A Good Morning Britain special aired on Christmas Day, but not all fans were happy with the festive episode. The pre-recorded instalment featured presenters Ed Balls, Susanna Reid, and Kate Garraway reflecting on highlights from the show over the past year. The trio delved into their favourite moments, with Susanna admitting a standout for her was the many political interviews conducted on the show.
She revealed a personal highlight was interviewing Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves in Labour’s first full year in government. The 55-year-old said: “You know me, Kate. I’m all about the political interviews. Holding the politician’s feet to the fire. We’ve had a full year of a new government, and so interviewing the Prime Minister when he’s so under pressure and the Chancellor.
“And, is he a challenger? Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary as well. Those are the moments which I think really stand out for me.”
But their discussion appeared to spark backlash from viewers, who took the opportunity to criticise the show.
One wrote: “So many highlights of very biased reporting.”
Another raged: “The two biggest stories of the year were Gaza and Ukraine.Totally ignored by GMB. You are a morning version of the One Show. Non stop Strictly and I’m A Celebrity c**p. And of course Garraway turning up at the opening of an envelope. Time to put this useless show in the bin.”

A third fumed: “Take away talking about Strictly, Traitors, I’m A Celebrity, Love Island, Britain’s Got Talent, Bake Off and the Soaps GMB fits in 10 mins to talk about the news. You are supposed to be a NEWS programme. When did you ever have a reporter in Gaza? That’s why BBC Breakfast beats you.”
Others completely disagreed and chose to point out how “incredible” Susanna looked, while others wished the Good Morning Britain team a happy Christmas.
Asked about her own favourite moment from 2025, Kate admitted life came “full circle” for her when she was given the chance to interview Renée Zellweger.
“As Bridget Jones, I’ve met up with her over the years at various movies. In the latest movie, the character had lost her husband and was raising a couple of children. We had such a lovely chat about the process of grief and so that was a lovely time,” she said.
