Peter Andre has admitted he is bracing himself for the possibility that this Christmas could be his mother’s last, as he shared a deeply emotional update on her declining health.
Peter Andre is worried this Christmascould be his mother’s last. The singer, 52, gave an update on his 89-year-old mum Thea’s health in a new interview
The singer, 52, spoke candidly about his 89-year-old mother Thea, revealing that her Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s have progressed to the point where she can now barely speak.
In a new interview, Peter explained that while he will spend Christmas in the UK with his wife Emily, 36, and their five children, he plans to fly out to Australia shortly afterwards to be with his parents.
“Of course I worry this could be Mum’s last Christmas,” Peter said. “She’s very delicate. Her Parkinson’s has progressed quite a bit. Her speech is almost gone now — she’ll say a word or two.”

He added: “It’s heartbreaking, because she’s our world. She’s our pillar of strength.”
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition caused by the loss of dopamine-producing nerve cells in the brain, leading to symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, slowed movement and balance difficulties. Combined with Alzheimer’s, the impact on Thea’s health has been devastating for the family.
Elsewhere in the interview, the couple talked about their Christmas plans with the singer spending it with wife Emily, his five children and Junior’s girlfriend Jasmine
Peter also spoke movingly about his father Savvas, 92, who continues to care for Thea every single day.
“Then I see Dad,” he said, “and he’s with her every day. But he’s getting delicate now too. His memory’s going.”
Despite the pain, Peter said he remains grateful that his parents were able to reach an extraordinary milestone earlier this year — celebrating 70 years of marriage in September.
“I prayed for that,” he admitted. “And they made it.”
The singer confessed that, despite his age and life experience, he is still struggling to come to terms with what his family is facing.
“It’s a raw pain,” Peter said. “I’m a grown man, but I still can’t accept in my heart that these things happen to the people I love the most.”
Earlier this year, Peter revealed that his parents received a special letter from the King to mark their platinum wedding anniversary — a moment he knows meant a great deal to his mother, even as her ability to communicate fades.
“They received a wonderful letter from the King,” Peter shared. “And although Mum’s speech is almost non-existent now, I know her heart will be filled with warmth because of all the love and support.”
In May, Peter posted a poignant video from Australia showing him saying goodbye to Thea before returning to the UK. In the clip, his mother gently caresses his face as she attempts to speak to him, while he sits quietly by her side.
Alongside the post, Peter wrote:
“Spending time with mum is always the most important part of my trip. Not exactly sure what mum is saying here, but words are not always needed. I will be back very soon.”
He added simply:
“I love her so much. I pray she knows that.”
While the family faces an uncertain and emotional time, Peter also spoke about finding comfort in being surrounded by his children over the festive period.
This Christmas, he will be joined by Emily, their children Theo, eight, Millie, 11, and Arabella, 20 months, as well as his older children Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, from his previous marriage to Katie Price.
Junior’s girlfriend Jasmine, 25, will also join the family celebrations.
Unlike previous years, the Andre family plans to head to a local pub for Christmas lunch after opening presents from stockings — traditionally made from tights — at home.
For Peter, the festive season will be a delicate balance of joy and heartache, as he prepares to cherish time with his children while quietly fearing what the months ahead may bring for the woman he still calls his greatest strength.
