Queen Elizabeth’s two granddaughters are usually pretty lowkey…
he York sisters are known for their sophistication, smiles and devotion to the Crown, but what are Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice really like when the whole world isn’t watching?
Away from the photographers, the glitz and the glamour, the two siblings are simply members of a unique and historic family.
According to former royal butler Grant Harrold, the two royals have a different side to them that is often glossed over.

What are Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice really like?
On October 12, Princess Eugenie is celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband Jack Brooksbank. They wed in 2018.
As many royal observers look back on Eugenie’s big day, former royal butler Grant Harrold is lamenting over his time serving the royals. Especially the experience he had with Eugenie and Beatrice.
Speaking in collaboration with OLBG ahead of the princess’ wedding anniversary on Sunday, Grant recalled when the princess would visit Highgrove during his time working there.
He said of the 35-year-old princess and her older sister, Beatrice, 37: “Princess Eugenie and her sister Beatrice were always really nice.
“Whenever I dealt with them they were very sweet and gentle. Always said their please and thank yous and were very polite. They were extremely lovely young women. And were much loved members of the royal family.”
The former royal staffer also lifted the lid on King Charles’ special bond with his nieces.

King Charles’ bond with Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice
Grant explained how close the king is with his nieces. He also shared his beliefs that Charles will remain keen to keep her involved in private family events.
In addition, Grant said: “The king is very fond of his nieces. And gets on with both of them really well. He will encourage them to come to family events, he will want them to be included in those private family celebrations.”
His words come after speculation that Eugenie and Beatrice could find themselves in more significant roles within The Firm.
In May, Eugenie attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace. The move got tongues wagging. An insider mused at the time that this could signal Eugenie’s acceptance of new roles and more responsibilities.
They even guessed that when Prince William becomes king, he could make these changes permanent.
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice could be stepping up to support The Firm
Royal commentator Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail at the time: “Beatrice and Eugenie are non-working members of the royal family, who are not funded by the taxpayer. Royal sources tell me that, with a smaller family after Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020, that may change in time.”
A royal courtier allegedly told him: “Although Prince William still believes in a slimmed-down monarchy, he is increasingly aware of his extended family.”
He said having the York sisters as full-time royals would “benefit the monarchy”. Considering Grant’s sentiments about the “nice” duo, he could be right.
Meanwhile, Richard also believed that the two sisters will have “a big role to play” for the family.
