Sir Nicholas Coleridge, the former magazine executive who now serves as Eton’s Provost, is being closely observed by those familiar with his deep affection for his alma mater.

The 12-year-old heir is expected to begin his next phase of education this September, with Eton widely considered the most likely destination.
Prince William himself attended Eton between 1995 and 2000, establishing a family precedent that many observers believe will influence the choice.
Sir Nicholas has previously expressed that he couldn’t help feeling it “counted against” anyone who hadn’t received an Eton education.
Mr Chirnside’s credentials make the Eton headship particularly attractive to him.

The St Edward’s leader studied Classics and French at Oxford and is himself an Old Etonian, a background that aligns perfectly with the institution’s traditions.
His potential departure is causing significant anxiety among the St Edward’s community.
“He’s the No 1 choice,” one longstanding supporter of the school, known affectionately as Teddies, told the Mail, “but we need him until at least 2033.”
The timing of Mr Henderson’s announcement has created an uncomfortable situation for St Edward’s, which had clearly anticipated retaining Mr Chirnside’s leadership for several more years.

The Royal Family’s interest in Eton extends beyond Prince George. Princess Beatrice was reportedly spotted visiting the college earlier this month, exploring it as an option for her 10-year-old stepson Wolfie.
The son of Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and his former partner Dara Huang, Wolfie could potentially join his royal cousin at the £63,298-per-year institution this autumn.
The school’s location works well for the family, sitting just over an hour from Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s £3.5million Cotswolds residence, where Wolfie spends time with his half-sisters, Sienna and Athena.
