Some TV shows grow slowly. Others become instant hits. And then there are the rare ones that people call the best thing Britain has ever made. This particular series sits firmly in that last category. Viewers say it is warm, funny, emotional and nothing like the other programmes its main star is known for. It has also become one of the highest-rated British shows on any streaming platform.
On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an extraordinary 97% rating from both critics and audiences. Fans say the show is addictive, comforting and unexpectedly moving. And for many people, it has completely changed how they see life in rural Britain.

The series in question is Clarkson’s Farm. One fan said: “Absolutely brilliant. Has had me in hysterics and had me on the verge of tears.
“The Top Gear buffoon, but also the personal emotional side of the man who does love nature and animals. Farming through the eyes of the rank amateur is great for the vast majority of us who know nothing about it.”
Another reviewer wrote: “What else to say other than it’s the best British show ever produced. Think about this. There are no specially built sets, no actors, no extras, no special effects, no CGI, no green screen, no costumes, no make-up, nothing.
Some of it is even filmed on a mobile phone! This is the genius of Clarkson; he’s created the highest-rated show in the history of Amazon. Out of basically nothing. Incredible.”
A third added: “I’m sorry but this needs to be a weekly occurrence, it needs 52 episodes a year – even if it had 365 episodes I’d keep up. It’s up there with some of my favourite shows!”

And another said: “I cannot say enough about this show. It is amazing, captivating, funny, sad, quirky. I started watching on a whim, but didn’t stop until I had finished. It is brilliant and quite possibly the best show to ever come out of this country.”
Clarkson’s Farm follows former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson as he attempts to run Diddly Squat Farm, a 1,000-acre site in West Oxfordshire.
He bought the land in 2008 but only began farming it himself in 2019 after the previous farmer retired. Clarkson renamed it “Diddly Squat” because of its low productivity.
The show quickly became one of Amazon Prime Video’s biggest hits. Series one launched in 2021, series two arrived in 2023 and became the most-watched UK Prime original ever.
Further series followed in 2024 and 2025, with another due to be released in 2026.
Much of the show’s popularity comes from its cast. Clarkson works closely with young farmer Kaleb Cooper, who has become a star in his own right.
Viewers also meet agronomist Charlie Ireland, Clarkson’s partner Lisa Hogan, dry-stone-wall expert Gerald Cooper and many others who help keep the farm running. The series has been praised for giving millions of viewers a simple look at the real challenges of British farming.
It also shows the emotional side of a job that depends on weather, animals, rules and a huge amount of patience.
All episodes of Clarkson’s Farm are available to stream on Prime Video.
