Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has spent the past three and a half seasons adjusting to life in Paris, but in the opening minutes of Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2, she proves that she just can’t shake her inherent all-American go-getter nature — even at Christmastime.

Emily has gathered with her Agence Grateau co-workers as their boss, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), toasts a year of incredible work — they’ve managed to start a new company and launch some high-profile campaigns in a matter of months (remember, it’s been less than a year in Emily’s world).

“I don’t know if I should thank you or blame you for everything this year,” Sylvie tells Emily as she celebrates her first Christmas season in France. Emily’s ready to talk shop, but Sylvie stops her before she gets going — it’s officially the holidays, and the office is officially closed.

Season 4 has seen Emily experience her first winter abroad, and she’s excited to go back to Chicago — but not before taking a turn around the ice skating rink with her beau, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). They talk about their Christmas traditions, which, for him, involve spending the holiday in Megève with Camille’s (Camille Razat) family.

“I always wanted to do a Christmas episode for Emily in Paris, and I wanted to film in the winter,” creator Darren Star tells Tudum. “It wasn’t the most pleasant experience filming in Paris all winter. It rained every day, but I also wanted to go into the Alps in France. And part of what I love doing in the series is exploring different parts of France, getting out of Paris. The episode carries so much of the storyline of the show set against the backdrop of Christmas.”

After all, “I think no one loves a holiday like Emily Cooper,” says Collins, teasing that Emily will have an emotional yuletide. “That episode is one of my favorites for sure.”
