The Princess of Wales will be embarking on a very exciting trip next week to promote a project close to her heart. Princess Catherine will visit West Wales for a day to spend time with textile manufacturers and celebrate the heritage, creativity and craftsmanship of Welsh textile manufacturers, Kensington Palace has announced.
The future Queen’s visit will shine a light on the unique skills and traditions of the British textile industry, which the royal is hugely passionate about and the ways they continue to inspire the next generation. Catherine has long been passionate about the importance of the British textile industry and its role as part of the UK’s cultural and creative voice.
Her paternal ancestors were the owners of the woollen manufacturer and merchant, William Lupton & Co, which was based in Leeds.

Since last year, the princess has visited textile manufacturers in Carmarthenshire, Suffolk, Kent and County Tyrone.
Last week, during her and Prince William’s visit to Scotland, Catherine tried her hand at hand-weaving and did the first part of a record-breaking tartan scarf.
The royal couple visited Radical Weavers, a charity in Stirling offering the opportunity to learn traditional Scottish tartan-weaving skills.
William and Catherine met members of the charity’s tartan-weaving course, where the future Queen took a seat at a traditional loom to add an “inch and a half” to what the Radical Weavers hope will grow into a record-breaking 3km-long tartan scarf.
The garment, which is being woven in the Wallace tartan and which will be produced communally, is intended to raise money to build Scotland’s Tartan Centre in Stirling.
