Emmerdale took viewers on a nostalgic journey in its Boxing Day episode, providing an update on Chloe Harris and her son Reuben.

Chloe first appeared on the ITV soap in 2021 as Gemma Harris’ sister, who had donated her heart to Sarah Sugden following a transplant operation. It was soon unveiled that Chloe had a perilous gangster father, Damon, and a close bond with Kerry Wyatt, who served as the family’s housekeeper and a motherly figure for Chloe.

In a shocking turn of events, it was later disclosed that Kerry was actually Chloe’s biological mother, with Damon and his wife, Karen, adopting Chloe when she was a baby.

During her stint in the village, Chloe was involved in several dramatic storylines, including her affair with Mack Boyd, which led to her pregnancy and subsequent birth of her son, Reuben.

In 2023, Chloe’s criminal father, Damon, decided to kidnap Mack. In the ensuing struggle to disarm Damon and rescue Mack, Charity accidentally shot and killed Damon.

When the police arrived, Chloe told Mack she would assert that Charity fired the gun in self-defence, but only if he relinquished custody of Reuben and allowed her to relocate to France.

Despite his initial reluctance, Mack eventually conceded and let Reuben leave with Chloe for Charity’s sake, leaving him heartbroken over the loss of his son. Chloe and Reuben made their exit from the popular ITV soap on 26th December 2023.

“None of this would be possible without all the hard work from the team at @baskervillejmp, and I feel very very lucky to call them my publishers!”.

Jessie’s novel, The Ladie Upstairs, hit shelves on 22 May 2025. The synopsis states: “Scullery drudge Ann longs to become a lady’s maid. Ann can’t quite remember how or when she arrived at the grand Ropner Hall, but she loathes spending her days toiling in the dank kitchen.

“When a chance meeting with Ropner’s Lady Charlotte leads to the opportunity to become her personal maid, Ann is convinced she has finally escaped her own version of hell. But has she? As Ann’s new life above stairs takes a sinister twist, will it turn out that the terrors lurking there are worse than the devils she knows below?”

It appears that Jessie has more literary works in the pipeline, as she recently informed her 19.2K Instagram followers: “I went to France for my first ever writing residency and came away with a finished manuscript, new friends, lots of inspiration, and a new understanding of my creative process.”
