Typically, the coming of a new year is a time to celebrate. This is particularly true with the kind of year 2020 was. But unfortunately for Kalani Faagata and her family, her grandfather recently lost his life due to complications from COVID-19. Several family members – including her mother and father – recently shared the sad news with 90 Day Fiance fans.

Turns out, Faavae Faagata died on January 16, 2021. Kalani Faagata’s grandfather was 77 at the time of his passing. It seems to be a loss the entire Faagata family feels. Meanwhile, fellow cast members and fans reached out to offer kind words during this difficult time.

Family Members Say Goodbye

Kalani Faagata had some touching words to say about her grandfather on Instagram. Asuelu Pulaa’s wife said what she would miss most about her grandfather – the way he made everyone laugh. She recalls fond memories of him “joking” back and forth with her grandmother, too.

In addition, the 90 Day Fiance mom said that she is thankful for the way he always looked after them whenever they were in Samoa. In closing, she said she knows he will “continue to do the same.” She also said some words in her mother tongue to bid farewell to her family member. Along with her words, Kalani also shared a handful of throwback pictures from happier times. No doubt, they have a lot of fond memories to remember him by.

90 Day Fiance: Papa Low & Lisa Faagata Reflect on Loss

Kalani’s 90 Day Fiance parents had some touching words to say on their shared IG page – along with some throwback pics of Low’s father. Low and Lisa Faagata wrote: “Rest in love Daddy, till we meet again.” Just like on Kalani Faagata’s IG page, viewers had kind words to say during this time of mourning for the entire family.

It’s always a difficult time when it comes to losing family members. And this is especially true since Kalani Faagata’s grandfather lost his life due to COVID-19. The one silver lining is that the Faagata family is very tight-knit – and they have one another to lean on as they go through this.
