Yella Beezy was released from the Dallas County Jail on bail today after being charged with a murder-for-hire plot in the death of his rival Mo3.
Yella Beezy Receives Major Bond Reduction, Released From Jail
On Friday (March 28), Yella Beezy got his freedom back when he was able to walk out of jail following what could be a career-altering arrest last Thursday, CBS News Texas reports. The Dallas rapper posted a $750,000 bond after it was initially listed at $2 million last week.
Lawyer Toby Shock, who’s representing Beezy along with lawyer John F. Gussio, released a statement to XXL yesterday once the bond was lowered. “Mr. Gussio and I were pleased with the Judges’ decision to lower the bond,” he said. “We look forward to defending Mr. Coleman in Court.”
Yella Beezy was arrested on March 20 for capital murder while remuneration, or murder-for-hire. Authorities say the rapper paid a man named Kewon White to shoot and kill Mo3 in 2020. White is already serving a nine-year prison sentence for gun charges related to Mo3’s shooting. Mo3 died on Nov. 11, 2020, after he was followed in his vehicle then chased down on a busy Texas highway in broad daylight and shot to death. A startling new angle of the incident from a vehicle dash cam was shown in court by prosecutors at Beezy’s bond hearing yesterday.
The beef between Beezy and Mo3 dates back several years, and seems to have started while they were both coming up in the Dallas rap scene in the mid-2010s. Both artists rep the city’s Oak Cliff neighborhood. Their issues, which have played out on social media and in their music over the years, may have something to do with a woman. An incident that likely took this beef to another level was the 2018 death of Mo3’s friend, comedian Roylee Pate, who was shot and killed in North Dallas after dissing Yella Beezy and questioning the rapper’s ties to Oak Cliff. Following Pate’s murder, Beezy was shot in a drive-by in Lewisville, Texas. At the time, the talk going around was that the rapper’s shooting was retaliation for Pate being killed.
