Rapper OG Maco tragically died at the age of 32 years old after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
The famous ‘U Guessed It’ hitmaker passed away Thursday, Dec. 26 surrounded by his loved ones in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, according to reports by TMZ. OG Maco, legally Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., succumbed to his injuries after spending 12 days in a coma after suffering the bullet wound.
Sources close to the rapper claimed that after nearly two weeks in the hospital, OG Maco passed away after his condition worsened. According to the news outlet, doctors were attempting to get a scan of the artist’s brain but were having difficulties due to the toxins found in his system. The substances that were found in his body have not been disclosed.
The young rapper was allegedly rushed to the hospital after a neighbor called 911 after hearing the sound of a gun go off inside of his home. When OG Maco was found, there was a firearm discovered close by, according to reports.

OG Maco’s family released a statement on Dec. 16 after the incident updating his fans that he was in “critical stable condition” after false reports circulated on social media. The Instagram page has not yet shared an update on his death.
The statement read: “We want to inform OG Maco’s fans, friends, and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition. He is receiving the best possible care, and we are staying hopeful as he continues to fight. At this time, we kindly ask that you respect our privacy, but if you would like to send any messages or have anything you wish to get to the family, please reach out via DM.”
The post continued: “Please note, all official updates regarding OG Maco’s health will come directly from his official social media accounts. This will be the only source for valid information.”

After the news of the rapper’s death broke, fans took to social media sharing an outpour of love in memory of the talented young singer. Under the last update, one person commented: “I hope it’s not true bro. but if you gone bro I just wanna thank you for everything you brought to this world bro. You never know what people are going through and I’m sorry this happened bro.. praying for your family.”
On X, formerly Twitter, another supporter wrote: “I pray OG Maco finally fount some peace he was definitely a pioneer in the game and definitely was an inspiration to me once upon a time.” Someone else chimed in: “RIP OG MACO, you shall be missed and your impact will be felt.” Another heartbroken fan added: “og maco???
