At New York Comic Con, a Wednesday cosplayer is blowing away the competition. Based on The Addams Family, the Netflix show follows Jenna Ortega’s titular character as she attends a boarding school filled with other supernatural misfits. The show became a runaway success for Netflix after its 2022 premiere and Wednesday was renewed for season 2. As the wait continues for the follow-up season, the original episodes are best remembered for Ortega’s incredible dance scene, which became a standout meme online.

In footage captured by Instagram user @lorenaparkour, that dance has been adapted for a new setting. One cosplayer’s dancing tricks are dominating the convention floor at New York Comic Con. The cosplayer is dressed as Wednesday Addams and is knocking out incredible moves while maintaining Wednesday’s stern demeanor. This version of the character evidently danced for ages, as she was captured alongside Deadpool, Robin, Spider-Man, and numerous other cosplayed characters. Check it out below:

It would be easy to look at Wednesday Addams as a typical goth student with little regard for anyone around her. She often feigns a lack of regard for her fellow students, entertains herself by insulting them, and refuses to accept their presence as anything more than an annoyance. Despite that, the dance proved that she is still willing to occasionally act like other students. She just so happens to do it in her own way. She moved with jerking and disordered movements that somehow communicated everything that Ortega was attempting to convey.

While others danced with typical moves, Wednesday has a style of her own, and that is exactly what sets her apart. She does everything her own way. She cares for others but hates showcasing it, dances with little regard for propriety, and torments the adults at her boarding school. All the while, she acts with a style that no one else can mimic. She is a perfect example of the Addams family, and her dance perfectly encapsulated that. So, while the wait continues for Wednesday season 2, it is only natural for her cosplayers to pass the time by dancing.

The Dance Speaks To The Spirit Of Cons

Part of the fun of conventions is seeing cosplayers wandering around the floor and celebrating their favorite franchises. It is a thrilling idea to see Wednesday Addams dancing alongside Deadpool, Ghostface, Wanda Maximoff, and countless other famous characters. It helps to combine the best parts of each show, movie, and even video game, while bringing it all together into a neat bow. Wednesday is best known for its dance scene, so it is only natural that the cosplayers would bring that energy everywhere they go.
