Prince Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020 and jetted off to California for a new life away from The Firm, but their neighbours reportedly “cannot wait” for them to move
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s neighbours are apparently “fed up” with the controversial royal couple and now hope they pack up and leave.
The Duke of Sussex , who celebrates his 40th birthday on Sunday, announced he was quitting the Royal Family with his wife back in January 2020. They later moved to California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
They scooped up their £12 million home in 2020 and their neighbours have started to come out of the woodwork to share their views on one of the world’s most famous couple’s.
‘Can’t wait for them to go’
One anonymous neighbour gave a particularly damning assessment to The News, saying they “cannot wait for her [Meghan Markle] to go”.
Frank McGinity, a navy veteran who lives next to the couple, was less damning but alleged he was “turned away” from their gates.
According to reports, Frank, 88, was told to leave after approaching the gate with some local history films in an effort to help the Sussexes adjust to their new setting.
He claimed that “they’re not interested”. Frank, who had the films on a CD, detailed how he was brushed off by the couple’s security detail in his memoir, ‘Get Off Your Street’.
Frank spoke of his surprise that the couple moved to the Riven Rock Estate where people are “typically” older. He also told the Montecito Journal: “We don’t see them very much around here.”
‘We want to see them’
Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan’s neighbour, Richard Mineards, told The Telegraph that some of the people living around the Sussexes are disappointed they’re not spotted more.
He claimed that Harry is always with his security during the occasions that he is seen locally, including on his bike, walking on the beach or sometimes travelling out for food.
Meghan is reportedly elusive as well but she is more likely to be spotted having lunch with her friends or perhaps shopping at a market, according to reports.
Richard said the local community is “waiting for them” and “gnashing at the bit”
‘Travelling soap opera’
In January, another local, Barry Maher, told the Mirror that people had become irritated with the couple’s “travelling soap opera”. He said they live in a “considerably pricier spot” than others and they “never see them”.
According to Barry, who works as a PR and communication expert, nobody who lives in the area is “exactly living in cardboard boxes”, but local tolerance “seems to mirror USA tolerance”.
He went on to say that the people that do actually like them seem to have an “unlimited tolerance”, while everyone else is either “unimpressed by the traveling soap opera” or “just sick of hearing about them”.
