La Voix Shares ‘Devastation’ Over Early Strictly Come Dancing Exit Due To Injury

La Voix has shared that she was “absolutely devastated” at having to withdraw from this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing due to an injury.

A week ago, the former Drag Race UK finalist disclosed that she was sitting out this year’s Blackpool special to focus on recovering from an injury she’d sustained during training earlier in the series.

However, as Saturday night’s live show got underway, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman shared with viewers that La Voix would not be returning to the series because of her injury, and therefore no one would be leaving the competition over the weekend.

La Voix is now the fourth member of this year’s Strictly cast forced to withdraw from the series on medical grounds, and had a regular elimination taken place last week, it would have meant just two celebrities would be competing in the live final next month.

In a statement, La Voix said: “I’m absolutely devastated to be withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing. This isn’t the glittering exit l ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like l’m letting people down.

“My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas! Thank you for every cheer, every vote, and every sparkle of support – it’s meant the world to me.”

“This isn’t the ending I imagined,” she added. “But l’ll cherish this forever.”

However, speaking to Tess and Claudia during Sunday’s pre-recorded launch show, she was in higher spirits, joking: “What have I loved most? Don’t hate me, but it’s not been the dancing.

“It’s been just being welcomed on the show with the most amazing warmth from everyone, from the whole crew backstage and the judges to the pros, the celebs, to you two. It’s been amazing. And I came into this show as a minority… you know? As a redhead. And you’ve all just embraced me wonderfully.

Her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec moved La Voix to tears as he told her how much he was going to miss “going to rehearsals, dancing with you, creating with you”, hailing her as a “brilliant” entertainer.

“I just think, with me leaving unexpectedly, at least it gives someone else in this competition a chance to win now,” she then joked, ending on a high.
