Harry and Meghan just made me reach for the sick bucket – please give it a rest
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked to try and grab some of the limelight away from the Royal Family once again, says Express reporter Adam Toms.

There is a scene in the BBC sitcom The Royle Family, where the neighbours drop in after being told that Denise is pregnant. Mary and Joseph’s daughter, Cheryl, remarks that she can’t believe it, as she and her parents were watching the wedding video again last night. Now it seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want the whole world to exhibit this slightly strange, obsessive behaviour, and relive their own big day.
News editors were called on to dutifully scrap whatever it is they were working on Tuesday, as the Sussexes wanted the world to marvel at their eight-year-old wedding photos. It is the last thing any visitor wants – their host to suddenly get all excited, fetch out their photo album, and show off their wedding photos from yonks ago. Cue eyerolls that seem to say “Lord, help me”.
A couple affirming their lifelong devotion to one another is a very sweet thing, and, I have to admit, I do remember watching Meghan walk down the aisle to Handel’s Eternal Source of Light Divine – a great choice. (The less said about the American preacher the better – I certainly don’t relish being reminded about that…)

The release of these pictures – some of which are extremely cringey, including one of Harry puckering up for a smooch from his wife – is surplus to requirements. Granted, their first dance looks like it was quite fun. However, I very much doubt that we needed to see it. And the public certainly didn’t ask to or express a want to.
If the couple still want to be considered somewhat royal, and keep their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, shouldn’t they consider keeping some of the event private?
We haven’t seen any photos of William and Catherine, now the Prince and Princess of Wales, at their wedding reception or during their first dance.

They most likely had a great time behind closed doors. But the British Royal Family are not just celebrities – they are crucial public servants, and representatives of the nation, and of a family line stretching back for thousands of years. They should retain some mystery and dignity.
Harry and Meghan are clearly still desperately trying to seem relevant from their new home in the United States.
The posting of the photos on social media by Meghan on the same day as the King and Queen arrived in Northern Ireland for a visit was definitely orchestrated to try and steal some of the limelight. Once again, Charles and Camilla conducted themselves very well. Beforehand, the monarch received the Irish president in London, ahead of an historic royal visit to the country.
I commend him for getting on with his important job, while his son and daughter-in-law continue their attention-seeking.
