Rapper Rich Homie Quan Dead At 34 — Get The Horrible Details & See His Final Instagram Message
Rich Homie Quan has sadly — and shockingly — passed away at the age of 34.
His family and a rep for the Fulton County morgue confirmed to TMZ that the rapper — whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar — died at his home in Atlanta on Thursday.
The cause of death is unclear at this time. But in a 911 call obtained by the outlet, his girlfriend Amber Williams explained she realized Rich had never came to bed on Wednesday night, apparently falling asleep on the couch in the living room. Before taking her son to school the next day, she placed a blanket over him “because he gets a little cold” in the room.
When Amber returned to the house, however, she noticed the Type of Way artist still hadn’t moved from the couch. She went to check on him, and what she found next was horrifying. Amber told the dispatcher she couldn’t see him breathing and didn’t feel a heartbeat. After she turned him over, she said, he began foaming at the mouth. Whoa. At one point, the dispatcher asked Amber to move her boyfriend to the floor while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. But as she attempted to get him to the ground, she became frantic since he was “not waking up.” So scary. We cannot imagine how Amber must have felt during this difficult situation. Listen to the entire 911 call (below):
Understandably, this is a hard time for his loved ones. Rich’s family told the outlet they’re shattered and heartbroken over his unexpected death and are searching for answers about what happened.
Again, no official cause of death has been determined yet. However, fellow rapper and former collaborator Boosie Badazz claimed on X (Twitter) that he “got word” that Rich died from an overdose. Whether that happened has not been confirmed. The musician struggled with addiction in the past and was charged with felony drug possession with the intent to distribute in 2017. But two years later, the case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
Everyone will have to wait and see if drugs were indeed a factor in his sudden passing. Page Six reported the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has an autopsy scheduled on Friday. Hopefully, the family will get their questions answered soon. What we do know at this time is that Rich shared a very cryptic final post to Instagram just days before he died.
On Tuesday, he shared a picture of himself wearing a green and white “89” jersey as he adjusted his glasses and another of him the same outfit while performing on stage. The caption read:
“Vision clear even through the BS”
Hmm. Take a look at the post (below):
Our hearts go out to his friends and family. Rest in peace, Rich…
