A brutal reminder from Saoirse Ronan left the male guests on the Graham Norton Show stunned into silence as the actress pointed out the reality of violence against women

A candid moment from The Graham Norton Show has been making waves online after Saoirse Ronan’s sobering comment left the male guests speechless. Host Graham recently welcomed stars such as Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Saoirse and Eddie Redmayne to his renowned couch for the latest episode of the chat show.

One discussion left the all-male panel at a loss for words when the Irish actress, 30, brought up the issue of violence against women. The group was light-heartedly discussing filming fights and disputes when Saoirse interjected to highlight why women need to document evidence of it.

Eddie, 42, shared that he was trained on how to use a phone in self-defence during an attack for his role in The Day of the Jackal. Tickled by the idea, Paul, 28, responded: “Who is actually going to think about that? If someone actually attacked me, I’m not going to go ‘phone’,” as he acted out pulling a phone from his pocket to record.

Graham, 61, chuckled at the notion and joked: “Can you hold on a second? ” Eddie chimed in: “That’s a very good point.”

Saoirse quietly observed their banter until she found the perfect opportunity to voice her perspective. She simply stated: “That’s what girls have to think about all the time,” leaving the panel dumbstruck before they concurred with her, reports the Mirror.

She then addressed the audience and asked: “Am I right, ladies?”

The crowd erupted in cheers and applause for the star, with the moment quickly going viral on social media. “Saoirse Ronan gagging men we love to see it,” one user lauded the actress.

Another posted: “Saoirse Ronan is a queen. Men need a reminder what it’s like being a woman so they can appreciate their privilege. The silence after she said that speaks volumes.”

One fan declared: “Saoirse Ronan, the woman that you are.”

Another pointed out: “Think it’s disingenuous to portray that clip from the Graham Norton show of the men + Saoirse Ronan as “men laughing at issue’s women face” bc they’re not. The whole point is that they weren’t even thinking about it from the perspective of women bc they’re ignorant about that.”

Saoirse was on Graham Norton promoting her new war drama Blitz, which is hitting cinemas November 1 before landing on Apple TV+ on November 22. Meanwhile, Paul and Denzel were there to promote the upcoming sequel to Gladiator, set to premiere on November 15 in the UK.
