Angel Reese is having a very rough start to the 2025 WNBA regular season, as the Chicago Sky recorded a career-low 2 points in her team’s loss to the New York Liberty.
During Sky’s home opener, Reese and Chicago got dominated by the reigning WNBA champions 99-74, with the Big Apple squad hitting a WNBA regular-season record 19 3-pointers. With that kind of shooting, it’s really hard to lose.

Reese played almost 27 minutes, but she went 0-8 from the field with only two of six free throws made. The LSU Tiger did grabbed eight offensive rebounds and four defensive rebounds, as well as one assist and three steals. However, she also had five turnovers.

Chicago Sky has lost its first two games of the 2025 regular season by a total of 60 poins, which is the worst two-game start for any WNBA franchise in the league’s history. And a big reason of that is Angel Reese‘s poor performances, shooting a combined 5-of-22 from the field, numbers that are pretty bad for a player that’s considered a rising star in the league.
And one play in particular shows just how bad Reese is playing currently. During the first quarter of the Sky game against the New York Liberty,Angel misses several consecutive shots around the rim, at times looking like the player either lacks effort or simpley does not know how to score.
The fans took to social media to express their concerns for the young player’s game. “Omg she is so trash! You could possibly be one of the top faces of the WNBA and you out there playing hot potato with yourself!,” posted and X user. “This is so embarrassing,” said another. Social media users inferred that Reese has been paying more attention to her model career and her podcast than her basketball performance.
Chicago Sky addressed some concerns during the offseason
Chicago Sky made a concerted effort to address its three-point shooting and playmaking in the offseason, which both ranked toward the bottom of the league last year. Courtney Vandersloot makes her regular season return to the Sky on Saturday after spending 2023 and 2024 in New York.
