The Indiana Pacers are set to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, June 5, in Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals. However, one of its star players made an important announcement ahead of the matchup.
Minutes away from making history and playing in what is likely to be one of the most important series of his career, Tyrese Haliburton revealed that he will take to the Paycom Center wearing an unusual detail in “Hibiscus” color: the new Puma Hali 1 sneakers.
Thomas Bryant’s Unique NBA Journey
This was announced by Puma Basketball. Using its official X account, the sports brand shared three photos of its new footwear and wrote: “Introducing the Hali 1.“
The design was created by Salehe Bembury, who confessed that “When I signed with Puma, my first priority was to sign a star athlete. They showed me a list of available and unavailable NBA athletes and told me to choose one to recruit. I chose Tyrese… He is who he is.“
The announcement comes just under a year after Haliburton let go of Nike and signed a multi-year contract with Puma. This sets an important precedent as these sneakers were created in record time, as the estimated time it usually takes is between 18 and 24 months. However, fans will only be able to purchase them in September.
As if that weren’t enough, Tyrese is only the seventh athlete in history to receive signature sneakers from Puma, joining legends such as Clyde Frazier, Ralph Sampson, Vince Carter, and current figures such as Breanna Stewart, LaMelo Ball, and Scoot Henderson.

Despite not winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award, Tyrese averages 18.8 points and 9.8 assists per game.
These numbers are typical for him, as he averaged 18.6 points and 9.2 assists per game during the regular season.

What is certainly a surprise are the two teams that made it to the 2025 NBA Finals, neither of which has won a title since their previous era. OKC-the first to qualify for the finals-has never been champions since moving from Seattle (where they did win in 1979). Meanwhile, the Pacers have never won an NBA title.
For this reason, the champion of this Finals will be a first-time winner. This has not happened with the two finalists since 2006, when the Miami Heat defeated the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 4-2. Twenty years later, this will undoubtedly be a spectacle worth watching.
