According to a royal expert, Prince Harry was ‘absolutely furious and in tears’ over his Frogmore Cottage eviction, with it claimed that he thought the King was ‘vindictive’
Prince Harry was “absolutely furious and in tears” over his Frogmore Cottage eviction, according to a royal expert who has lifted the lid on the devastating ordeal for the Sussexes.
More than a year ago, back in March 2023 following the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare hitting bookshelves, it was revealed that King Charles had asked his son and his wife Meghan Markle to vacate Frogmore Cottage. And this left Harry “furious”. A source told The Standard at the time: “The Sussex’s are no longer leasing Frogmore Cottage. That privilege has been removed.”
The source at the time added: “It’s over for them in the UK. If they want a residence in the UK they will have to buy one privately.” Then, in June 2023, Meghan and Harry finally handed back the keys to Frogmore Cottage. The couple’s remaining possessions were shipped to California.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn revealed: “Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore – he felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive.” He went on to say that Harry “couldn’t see that choosing to stop being a working royal would inevitably mean being deprived of his royal residence”, with the Duke of Sussex taking it as a “cruel rejection” from his father, King Charles III.

Mr Quinn said: “Harry took it as a cruel rejection – a painful reminder of all that he felt when his father fought with his mother during their long drawn out, painful divorce. “Whenever Charles puts his foot down, it seems unfair to Harry who feels that after everything that has happened to him, he should always get whatever he wants whether that be security paid for by the British taxpayer or a luxurious UK home.” He concluded his expert commentary by telling us: “For many Harry is just a poor little rich kid behaving like a spoiled brat, but Harry sees himself as the eternal victim.” The Mirror has contacted Prince Harry’s representative and Buckingham Palace for comment.
