‘We don’t want her getting any unwanted abuse for absolutely no reason’: Robertson on keeping his family life private
Andy Robertson has recently got married to his wife Rachel and some of the wedding pictures were circulating on the internet. Rachel’s social media presence is private and Robbo has shed some light as to why they keep it that way.
“It was something we kind of both decided to do. It was important that we try to live our private life in a very public world. We can’t stop me getting recognised or you can’t stop people wanting pictures. But we can control people not knowing really who Rachel is, and especially our kids,” Robertson told The Athletic.
“It was more kids based. As soon as Rachel fell pregnant, we wanted to protect the kids from everything. Some people do it, some people don’t. I just wanted my kids to live a normal life and not a life in the public eye. So far we’ve successfully done that, and hopefully it stays that way.

“Obviously, one of the wedding pictures came out. I’m not really sure where from. People follow Rachel’s friends or my friends to try to get pictures, but we’re very conscious of it. When you come to a club like Liverpool, there are more eyes on you. That’s why we decided for Rachel to go a bit more private. We don’t want her getting any unwanted abuse for absolutely no reason or for me not doing my job properly.”
‘The advert was extremely strong and exactly what was needed’: Robertson on EE’s campaign against sexist abuse
Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson were a part of EE’s campaign to tackle sexist abuse against women footballers. In an interview with the Athletic, Robertson has opened up about the campaign.

“The advert was extremely strong and exactly what was needed,” he said. “It needed to get straight to the point.
“It was probably an eye-opener for a lot of people and that was exactly the reaction everyone wanted from it. The people close to me, in terms of the women in my life, they are proud I am part of this campaign and trying to help women’s rights.
“It’s about the (ongoing women’s) Euros and it’s about the footballers, but it’s also for all women, it’s not just for footballers or celebrities. It is for all women and I’m sure a lot of women have watched the advert and felt pride from it.
In case you haven’t seen it already, here’s the advert Robertson is referring to:
‘Boys looking sharp’: picture from Andy Robertson’s wedding goes viral
Jordan Henderson shared a photo of a few well-dressed Liverpool men – and Adam Lallana – at some sort of a special occasion.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke revealed earlier that Andy Robertson was getting married after the national team camp.
As he’s the only man in the picture with a buttonhole, it looks like the picture was taken at the said wedding, with his current and former teammates in attendance.
It’s safe to say that the fans approve of their style, as the picture went mildly viral on social media.
