After the smashing success of season 1, it’s no surprise that Wednesday, The Addams Family spinoff featuring Jenna Ortega, got a second season. Initially announced in 2023, the plot is expected to follow Wednesday Addams as she tries to solve another murder at her boarding school. And now, fellow Nevermore students, we officially have our first official look at the making of the upcoming season. Keep scrolling for more.
All about ‘Wednesday’ season 2
Life is going to look a little different for Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) next season, according to the show’s showrunners, Miles Millar and Al Gough.
“We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into Season 2,” the pair said in a joint statement back in 2023. “We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world.”
Ortega is also excited to return to her goth roots, even teasing people about what they can expect from her in the upcoming season. “[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody. Which, as someone who used to be an immense people-pleaser, I really respect.”
She also revealed that “we wanted to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and [is] a show with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”

Ortega won’t be alone at Nevermore, though, because Emma Myers, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Joy Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán are expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming season, with Zeta-Jones teasing, that “this season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine.”
“Our goal this season was to discover some fresh faces as well as invite some acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore,” Millar and Gough said. “When we survey the talent we’ve assembled, we could not be more thrilled. Mission accomplished.”
Some of these new and old cast members are highlighted in the first teaser trailer, which you can watch below!
When does ‘Wednesday’ season 2 premiere?
The official premiere date of Wednesday season 2 remains unknown, but Netflix has confirmed it will be in 2025.
They also confirmed that the first episode will be entitled “Here We Woe Again.” It was written by Gough and Millar and is set to be directed by Tim Burton, who directed the first four episodes of season 1 and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, all of which star Ortega.
“I remember [Burton] was always so kind, pleasant and energetic. If someone was doing a stunt, he would do it first to show it. He was very hands-on,” Ortega said of the director.
Will there be other seasons of ‘Wednesday’?
As of this date, Wednesday has only been confirmed for two seasons, but Millar said, “When we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully, the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters.
“It can evolve and change. Often, you want to see which characters or cast pop and who you like to write for. So you want to keep it open and organic enough to change it and evolve, but we certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons.” Whatever future seasons look like, one thing’s for certain, they’ll be creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky and all together ooky.
