An Illinois man is accused by authorities of killing his girlfriend, whose body was found in a hotel dumpster.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a first-degree murder charge against 54-year-old Arturo F. Taylor, of Fox Lake, Ill., on Feb. 27, according to a statement from the Elk Grove Village Police Department.

Officers responded to a hotel on Landmeier Road at about 4:18 a.m. on Feb. 25 on a report of an unresponsive person. There, police found an adult woman deceased inside a dumpster.

She was identified by the medical examiner as 50-year-old Colleen Bagley, of Fox Lake, per the police statement.

Officials later ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple sharp force injuries.

Bagley’s brother, Jason Ehardt, said Taylor was her boyfriend, The Chicago Tribune reported. He added that the loss of his sister was unexpected.

“I wish we had more time together,” Ehardt said, per the newspaper. “I’m gonna miss her.”

Police allege Taylor stabbed Bagley multiple times following a dispute in their hotel room.

The Tribune reported, citing prosecutors, that Taylor was spotted on security footage around 2 a.m. walking towards the dumpsters carrying a garbage bag.
