On the 3rd of October, 2024, the entertainment industry lost another major young talent as French-American rapper Lucas Coly was reported to have left this world after committing suicide. An artist famous for his exceptional vocal skills, he rose to prominence sometime in the 2010s, after his music reached millions of views and streams on YouTube and SoundCloud.

Famous for landing master hits among fans like his viral single I Just Wanna from 2016 and Break Ya Back and Numb from 2018 – all three of which have notably eclipsed 19 million, 11 million, and 10 million views respectively on YouTube – he took his own life at 27, leaving his fans from all around the world devastated at this tragic turn of events.
While this news was originally confirmed by his manager, the circumstances surrounding his demise and other factors are currently unknown to many by Coly. Thus, here’s everything you need to know about him, from who he was dating before his untimely death, the last person he talked to, and what his manager had to say about his passing away.
Lucas Coly Was in a Relationship With Amber H

According to Hollywood Life, Coly was in a relationship with social media influence Amber H at the time of his death. An Oklahoma-born artist, she is famous for uploading beauty and makeup videos, vlogs, and other content on her YouTube channel Amber H, many of which also seem to have featured Coly frequently. She also gained recognition for her music.
Apparently, it all started between Lucas Coly and Amber when she reportedly “slid into the DMs” of the late rapper, following which a ‘purely online’ relationship started.
As Amber detailed in a 2018 vlog created to share how the two met, the pair’s anniversary is on November 25, and they seem to have originally started this affair back in 2015.
In fact, she even claimed that meeting her late partner was one of her “best memories” (via Amber H/YT): “I was nervous—like, I was super nervous. I think that’s one of my best memories with him because of the feeling of finally meeting someone you’ve been excited to meet and have been conversing with on the phone. You know he’s fine… girl, that was one of my best memories.”

That’s not all. This couple even seems to have shared a joint YouTube handle under the name Lucas and Amber, which currently has 285K subscribers and 54 videos uploaded featuring the couple simply vlogging their daily lives or doing other challenges. Even earlier this year, the pair was last seen together on TikTok live, as per Hollywood Life.
Further reports reveal that while it’s not clear whether the pair broke up or not, their relationship had problems of its own. Apparently, the two of them were in an open relationship, with Amber venting on a live stream to her fans about the alleged turbulent nature of their relationship (see TikTok). Additionally, Hollywood Life claims the two seemingly had conflicting opinions on marriage, children, and leading a future together, so that’s that as well.
Lucas Coly’s Last Instagram Activity Was Uncanny
While his seemingly having problems in his relationship with Amber H was one thing, Lucas Coly’s social media activity before his death further sounds uncanny. A day before his death, the rapper reportedly took to his Instagram handle @iamlucascoly to post a story that read, “I love y’all,” with a heart emoji against a black background.
This, obviously, garnered a lot of fan attention, as one fan (@uheartmilano) even took to their X handle to share a screenshot of this story. But before further speculation could land people anywhere, his manager, known on Instagram by the handle @idiscoverstars, announced the heartbreaking news that Coly had passed away at 27.
In the since-edited Instagram post, Coly’s manager posted an image of the late singer with the caption that read, “Rest in peace @iamlucascoly I love you bro. My heart is ripped in half. Wait for me up there.” Further reports from US Magazine confess that a second post from @idiscoverstars – which has also been edited since – had a picture of the two with the caption:
“Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here. There’s a hole in my heart right now Lucas. We used to speak on our struggles all the time but smile for the fans. So many people hurt us again and again but we had each other. I don’t know what to do now. I’d be a hypocrite if I told you not to, and I go and do the same.”
If that isn’t enough, the post further read, “Honestly, Lucas it hasn’t set in yet because I refuse to believe you are gone. Heart ripped to shreds. God send him back here. Please 💔 I’m broken over here #riplucascoly #checkonyourfriends.” In a third post, the talent manager was seen crying in a video that captioned, “Check on your loved ones.”
Adding to all of this, fans also pointed out how Coly even seemingly not only unfollowed Amber H’s Instagram handle @ambeeer.h before his demise, but he also unfollowed the pair’s respective joint Instagram handle @lucasandamberofficial. To say the least, this uncanny turn of events has fans speculating if his relationship might have been the reason behind him taking such an extreme step.
Lucas Coly’s Last Call Was Seemingly Made to His Manager
While his manager posted a lot of words for the late fan-favorite rapper following this devastating turn of events, I Discover Stars also mentioned in a separate Facebook post, which has since been either deleted or has gone private, that Lucas Coly’s last call before his death was seemingly made to his manager, though no details about the call were revealed.
Sharing how he knew about the news of Coly’s death, the manager wrote in the Facebook post: “For those wondering how I know this is true… 1) I was his longtime manager, and 2) I was on the phone with him moments before. He loved all his fans. 2024 has been the worst year of my life. Lucas was more of a brother to me than just a client.”
Furthermore, the handle also added that they will keep fans updated about further reports regarding Coly’s death and funeral, writing (via Hollywood Life), “When the funeral arrangements are made, I will post them here.”
What Lucas Coly’s Manager Said About Amber H

After all of this and Lucas Coly’s Instagram activity before his death, many might speculate that Amber H might be connected directly to this devastating turn of events. But it seems that’s not the case, considering how the late rapper’s manager was seen asking and encouraging fans to “pray” for the social media influencer.
According to reports from Hollywood Life, the words I Discover Stars used for Amber in the Facebook post were: “I’m not okay. Pray for Amber, y’all. Amber will confirm the news when she is ready. Please give her time to process and heal.”
Meanwhile, Amber’s Instagram story recently revealed her posting clips of condolence flowers she received from her friends and family, and an image of a seemingly broken smartphone – which presumably might be Coly’s – with the caption, “This made me feel a lot better! Amen🙏 Yall don’t know the half !!!!!!!!! LEAVE ME ALONE !!!!!! Let him rest🫶”
Following this, one more story on a black background was added, though this one only featured the words “Got the answers I needed and I’m okay🫶” As confusing and confounding as this matter may be, for now, nothing can be said for sure about Amber’s involvement in Coly’s death.
Lucas Coly Wanted to be “A Crossover Artist”

Recent updates from @idiscoverstars‘ Instagram handle have revealed Lucas Coly’s true wishes and intentions regarding his music career before his demise. In the post, an edited photo was captioned, “Lucas wanted to do crossover music. He loved creating music. Algorithms made it hard for us to promote organically. Since he was part African, he stepped into Afrobeats. This song is called ‘Problems’ Ft Kamillion and CurtdaRula.”
The same thing was mentioned in the post’s caption as well, which read: “Lucas wanted to be a crossover artist. The truth is these algorithms make it so hard for artists to push their music to their supporters. […] Lucas never got radio play and refused to sell out. It hurts seeing all the press he’s getting now. We wanted that while he was here. But being non-problematic isn’t press worthy.”
Last but not the least, before signing off his Instagram for a “social media break” as he needs “some time to process everything,” the manager went on to encourage fans and music lovers to keep Coly’s “dream alive” and finally have the “once in a generation talent’s” works top the charts, the way he wanted. “It would be a dream of mine if we can all get together and stream his songs until we can chart,” wrote the manager.
With all of this being put out there, as heartbreaking as it is, Lucas Coly has indeed left this world behind, and the truth behind his extreme decision to take his life is yet to be unveiled. Nonetheless, the singer’s musical charms will inevitably continue his legacy and leave his fans and music lovers entertained to the core for a long time to come.
