While there are many memorable Netflix original shows and I’m excited for the final season of You, I’m especially interested in how Stranger Things season 5 wraps up and how Wednesday season 2 will continue the story of Goth teen Wednesday Addams’s (Jenna Ortega) spooky time at Nevermore Academy. Considering how funny and smart the first season was, I’m sure that season 2 will be even better.
If the second season has fewer episodes than the first, then there is no room for filler, and each episode feels even more important. While I’m a big fan of the series and would be happy with any episode since I love watching Ortega’s portrayal of this iconic character, there is one episode that I would love to be included in Wednesday season 2.
I Want A Wednesday Season 2 Flashback Episode About Wednesday And Pugsley Addams
Considering their memorable and hilarious dynamic, I want to see a flashback episode of Wednesday season 2 that is about Wednesday and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) Addams as kids or preteens. Since their relationship is a big part of the Addams Family movies from the 1990s, it would make sense to flesh out their backstory a bit more on the Netflix series. This would also add even more nostalgia to the series, which wouldn’t be a bad thing.
While there are many great versions of Wednesday, she always shows compassion for her family, even if she pretends not to. Since Pugsley is now a student at Nevermore Academy, it would be interesting to explain the decision to send him there as well. I think that after learning why Morticia and Gomez decided that both their kids should attend Nevermore, the show should tell a new history of Wednesday and Pugsley. Maybe they once had a terrible fight and didn’t speak for a long time, or they bonded and rebelled against their parents.
Since sometimes flashback episodes can be corny and feel like they come out of nowhere, this Wednesday season 2 should still move the plot forward. I think Pugsley could be the key to Wednesday discovering who her stalker is. Maybe the entire episode could be Wednesday reflecting on good and bad times that she shared with her younger brother, and at the end, she could remember something that would be a big clue. While Wednesday should have a support system in season 2, it’s also important to show flashback scenes of her and Pugsley. This reminds viewers that she does have a close relationship with her family, despite how tough she seems. The flashback episode could even reveal that Pugsley is the one who asked to come to Nevermore because he missed his sister and wanted to hang out with her again.
Fans love seeing Wednesday and Pugsley teasing each other, and I think that it would be fun to revisit some of their childhood memories on Wednesday season 2. As Isaac Ordonez told Teenplicity.com:
“Like all siblings, Pugsley and Wednesday have a love/hate relationship. Wednesday likes to torture Pugsley, but she’s the only one who can and will always look out for him.”
What Happened In The Addams Family Movies Set In The 1990s?
Since Wednesday changes some elements of the Addams Family franchise, it’s fun to reflect back on the popular movies from the 1990s. The plot of both The Addams Family and Addams Family Values show the loving bond that these characters have. While Wednesday and Pugsley never seemed to get along, they do care about each other.
Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) Addams tease each other throughout the Addams Family franchise and they have a hilarious and memorable dynamic in the 1990s movies. In The Addams Family, which was released in 1991, Gomez (Raul Julia) and Fester Addams’s (Christopher Llyod) brotherly dynamic is examined as Fester is the heir to the Addams estate. In Addams Family Values, which came out in 1993, Morticia (Anjelica Huston) is pregnant. While she and Gomez get ready for this big life change, Wednesday and Pugsley go to summer camp. They hurt other people there as much as they do each other, and they have fun in their own dark and unique way.
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Christina Ricci explained why people love the Addams Family so much, and she makes some great points. She said:
“So to see people living in such a joyous manner, I think it’s really appealing to people. Especially when it’s not your stereotypical kind of lifestyle. It’s fun to see people happy. And the source of that happiness to be so macabre… I think is so freeing to people.”
