As it turns out, Jenna Ortega isn’t the only Wednesday actor featured in Beetlejuice 2. Tim Burton is well known for using a revolving troupe of actors in his movies and even in Wednesday, with the acclaimed filmmaker having previously worked with Beetlejuice 2 cast members like Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Danny DeVito, and Jenna Ortega on several projects. Ahead of Beetlejuice 2’s release, it’s now confirmed that Burton recruited at least two actors he directed on Wednesday season 1 to appear in his beloved spooky world.
It had previously seemed that Jenna Ortega, who plays Astrid Deetz, would be the only Wednesday cast member in Burton’s 2024 Beetlejuice sequel. Ortega revealed that Burton came to her about joining Beetlejuice 2 during meeting she thought was about Wednesday season 2, giving her the opportunity to expand beyond playing members of the classic Addams family to join his iconic Deetz family tree. While it doesn’t appear that any other Nevermore student actors are in Beetlejuice 2, Wednesday Addams actress Jenna Ortega is joined by the actress who made a shocking and memorable debut in Wednesday’s series premiere as Martha.
Wednesday’s Martha Actress Caroline Lawrie Appears In Beetlejuice 2 As Dead Cat Lady
Caroline Lawrie Played Martha In Wednesday Season 1 Episode 1
Now, Lawrie is expanding her experience in Tim Burton’s horror-comedy worlds by joining the afterlife ensemble in Beetlejuice 2. Lawrie plays Dead Cat Lady, a ghost in the Neitherworld waiting room who sits next to Michael Keaton’s titular character on the couch. The Dead Cat Lady is seen with a deceased cat still connected to her, curlers still in her hair, and pajamas on, hinting at a grim death for the new character.
Beetlejuice 2 Also Reunites Tim Burton With Several Wednesday Crew Members
Writers, Composers & Costume Designers From Wednesday Are Also On Beetlejuice 2’s Team
In addition to Wednesday cast members Jenna Ortega and Caroline Lawrie, Beetlejuice 2 reunites Burton with some crew members from the hit Netflix show. For instance, Tim Burton’s frequent collaborator Danny Elfman returns to score Beetlejuice 2, with Wednesday co-creators and show runners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar writing the screenplay for Burton’s 2024 movie. Furthermore, Wednesday’s costume designer Colleen Atwood takes on the same role for Beetlejuice 2, with Jay Prychidny also serving as the editor for both projects.
