The Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up for the second half of the NBA season with a new superstar duo.
Earlier this month, the Lakers sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for 25-year-old generational talent Luka Doncic — pairing him alongside LeBron James and marking one of the most impactful trades in league history.
James and Doncic both have similarly ball-dominant play styles, leading many to question how these two superstar players will mesh on the court.
Paul George has no doubt that James and Doncic can pull it off. In fact, the Philadelphia 76ers forward believes this superstar combo will be a “nightmare” for opposing teams in the Western Conference.
“I think it’s going to work on the simple fact that both of those two are high-level IQ players,” George explained during the most recent episode of his podcast. “They understand spacing. They understand pick-and-roll. They see plays two, three plays ahead. They know how to manipulate the defense. They’re both obviously great with the basketball in their hands.”
“I think it’s going to work, man,” George continued. “It’s definitely a pick-your-poison type of situation, and it’s going to be tough… Good luck in the west. It’s going to be a nightmare when you play the Lakers.”
Doncic made his debut with the Lakers in a 132-113 win over the Utah Jazz on Feb. 10. Through 24 minutes in his Los Angeles debut, the former Dallas superstar recorded 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Doncic will play under a minutes restriction in Wednesday night’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. James, who sat out of this past weekend’s NBA All-Star Game with ankle soreness, is listed as questionable.
Wednesday night’s matchup against the Hornets will tipoff at 10 p.m. EST in Los Angeles.
