The much-loved singer, left the world in shock when he died on Wednesday, aged 31, after falling from the third floor of his hotel suite in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The star’s legion of loyal followers also known as ‘Directioners’ have flooded social media with tributes to Liam and now some of them believe they’ve seen a sign from the dad-of-one in the clouds.

Sharing photos of multiple skies featuring clouds in the shape of chevrons, which look similar to those in the singer’s tattoo on his right forearm, one fan wrote: “I think this was a sign from him, RIP Liam.”

Responding to the post, another said: “Fans spotted skies mirroring Liam Payne’s arrow tattoo, taking it as a sign that the singer is at peace following his passing.”

After the devastating news of the singer’s death, many of Liam’s fans have got a tattoo of five chevrons, which represent the members of One Direction, including Liam, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles. Liam’s tattoo was thought to represent the other four members of the band.

In a heartbreaking tribute, fans have added a special take to their artwork by adding angel wings to it. One got a colourful fine line version of the tattoo and posted: “Finally took the step to get my One Direction tattoo, but in the saddest way possible—for Liam Payne. I always imagined it would be a happier moment, not under these circumstances. I would’ve chosen a different time, a different reason, but now feels right. I’m proud I pushed through the pain and cost to honour Liam in this way.”

After an agonsing wait for his family, Liam’s body is hoped to be flown home this week “back where he belongs”. A source said: “Liam’s loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family. As they await the pathologist to finish their tests, behind the scenes, they have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK. There are no direct commercial flights between Buenos Aires and London, but naturally, they want the flight to have the least stops and interruptions possible. But Geoff is determined to accompany his son home.”

The star’s death is currently being treated as ‘inconclusive’ while tests are carried out in Argentina to confirm whether Liam was drugged and intoxicated before he fell.
