đ¨Â There are obviously massive spoilers ahead for Nobody Wants This on Netflix. đ¨
If you’ve been on Netflix recently, you’ve probably noticed there’s a new #1 show in the US. Nobody Wants This is a brand-new romantic comedy series by Erin Foster that has everyone talking.
Netflix
Starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This follows Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody), an agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi who seem like an unlikely pair on paper. However, after they meet at a party and walk out together, they can’t help but realize there is something between them.
Netflix
With their differing outlooks on life, coupled with modern dating obstacles and some well-meaning but sabotaging family members, Joanne and Noah might be the answer the other person was searching for.
And while the whole series is a rom-com lover’s dream, there is one scene in particular that has everyone swooning, and that’s Joanne and Noah’s first kiss in Episode 2.
Netflix
The episode is titled “A Shiksa Walks Into a Temple” and was directed by Greg Mottola and written by series creator Erin Foster.
After being invited out to dinner by Noah, Joanne starts to open up to him and ends up spending the whole evening with him. The adorable date night culminates in a kiss that Joanne even deems one of the best she’s ever had.
Netflix
The kiss is one of the more romantic scenes from Nobody Wants This, and it has led to countless people taking to X, formerly Twitter, to declare it one of the best scenes and some of Adam’s most swoon-worthy work in the series.

So, because everyone can’t stop thinking about it, here are just 13 facts about how Joanne and Noah’s first kiss was filmed in Nobody Wants This:
1. First, Kristen Bell said filming the kiss was “daunting” because the script read something like, “They experience the world’s greatest kiss.”
Netflix / Via x.com
Speaking to MTV, Kristen said she and Adam knew they had to “pull this off” after reading how it was described in the script.
2. Kristen told MTV that she “wasn’t prepared” for Adam Brody to put his hands on her face during the moment, which he ultimately did in all of Joanne and Noah’s kisses throughout the series. She said that crew members gasped because it was so perfect, and that’s when Kristen realized, “Oh, this is gonna work.”
Netflix
She recalled the moment to MTV, saying, “And I remember audibly hearing all of the women, and some men, at video village, when he did it, and just kind of held my face, goâ [gasps].”
3. While filming the scene, Adam said there were paparazzi on the street taking pictures of him and Kristen while they filmed. He said it added to the nervousness they both felt while filming it. At the time the photos, like the one below, went viral online.

He told Harper’s Bazaar, “There also just happened to be paparazzi right there too, kind of getting it all. That was also a little disconcerting. But to me, all that really meant was, ‘just take your time.’ Thatâs it.”
4. In fact, the whole show was filmed on location in Los Angeles, so in the lead-up to Noah and Joanne’s first kiss, they are actually walking down Vermont Avenue.
Netflix
Speaking about filming the moment, Adam told the LA Times, “What was somewhat surreal to me was walking down Vermont Avenue for the kiss scene. Just having spent so much of my 20s on that street, so now to be on it thinking, ‘If you knew youâd be back here filming a series and doing a walk and talk down the street of your youth’â that was a surreal moment that was cool.”
5. Kristen said that she and Adam wanted to make sure all of the little moments leading up to the actual kiss were done right because that’s what makes a good kiss so memorable. Everything they added in leading up was kept in the final cut.
Netflix
She explained to TVLine, “The actual lip lock wasn’t nearly as important as all of the elements that led up to it. And we wanted to extend that for as long as we possibly could because, I think, we were all in agreement that, like, yes, once you’re watching someone kiss, they’re just kissing, but it’s all the tiny things that lead up. It’s the eye contact. It’s the hands on the face. It’s when you blink. It’s when you breathe. It’s how your bodies are touching. It’s how your shoulders are touching.”
6. Kristen and Adam believe that “the kiss is not the important part,” but the “anticipation” is what makes it so great.
Netflix
“It is the anticipation that you’re letting the audience live through that builds,” Kristen explained to MTV. “And we just took our time.”
7. Creator Erin Foster said Adam “didn’t want” to tell Joanne to put her ice cream down during the scene because he felt Noah was “bossing her around,” while Erin explained that “it is hot. It’s so sexy.”
Netflix
She continued, telling TVLine, “It’s so sexy because you are this sweet guy, and you’re emotionally available, and you’re kind, and you need to be able to say to her, ‘Okay, you want me to kiss you? Put your shit down. I’m about to give you the best fucking kiss of your life.'”
Erin added, “It was really important to me. And, I, like, basically made him do it.”
8. Adam liked how it was a slow buildup to the moment when they finally kiss and found it a nice juxtaposition to some TV and movie kisses where “they thought of the kiss at the same time, and they’re all of a sudden…it’s on.”
Netflix
Adam continued, telling MTV, “And I think it’s a nice counterpoint to the very nice but perhaps getting a little arch version of the, like, they slam together all of a sudden.”
9. They filmed Noah and Joanne’s first kiss a few times, with Adam and Kristen even making the lead-up to the actual kiss even longer in a few takes.
Netflix
Kristen explained to Harper’s Bazaar, “We [did] a couple of takes where one of us was like, ‘Letâs just make it doubly as long â not the actual kiss, but the lead-up.’ Like, ‘Letâs just stretch out staring at each other for as long as we possibly can before we feel like we really should have wrapped already.'”
10. The little moment when Noah sneaks in another kiss right before Joanne leaves wasn’t scripted; it was something Adam and Kristen added in while filming. Adam said it was “the most real” thing they did during the whole kiss scene.
Netflix
He continued, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “That, to me, feels so organic, true to life â the first time youâre making out with somebody, and itâs so great, and you donât want to say goodbye, and itâs like youâre kissing until the last second.”
11. Kristen called this the “best onscreen kiss” she’s ever done, telling TVLine that she and Adam really wanted to “pump up the anticipatory value of it.”
Netflix
“You don’t know it when you’re in it, I guess,” Kristen explained when discussing if she and Adam knew this would be another iconic kiss the two would be part of, referencing Summer and Seth’s Spider-Man kiss in The O.C. and Veronica and Logan’s first kiss in Veronica Mars.
She continued, saying, “You know it when you watch it. And I can sort of take myself out of it and go, like, Oh yeah. That was a good one or Oop, you missed.”
12. Adam said he felt the kiss was “easy to shoot” because he and Kristen have been friends for so long, and have worked together before, so he “knew” they had great chemistry.
Netflix
“I knew how talented and how fun she is but it wasn’t until I saw the first episode shortly thereafter that I, like, saw the chemistry,” Adam told TVLine.
Kristen added, “I knew we would have [chemistry] because I knew Adam can look longingly into someone’s eyes and really just let you revel in that.”
13. And finally, Kristen said she knew they had something special when she showed Episode 2 to her husband, Dax Shepard, and he leaned over during the kiss scene and said, “God, I want you guys to kiss so badly.”
Netflix
“Like, it was infecting him,” Kristen told TVLine. “And I was like, Oh, we’ve done something really special.”
