On the afternoon of October 16, the international entertainment world was shocked by the confirmation of Liam Payne’s death at the age of 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The former One Direction member lost his life after falling from the balcony of the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo hotel, following a destructive episode while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
After the confirmation of his death, Liam Payne’s family broke their silence and released a statement that also mentioned his young son, Bear, who the singer rarely showcased in public.
Who is Liam Payne’s son’s mother?
Liam Payne met the mother of his only child, the famous singer Cheryl Cole, when he was just 14 years old on the reality show The X Factor in 2008. However, it wasn’t until seven years later, when they reconnected at a public event in 2015, that their relationship began.
While Cheryl was recovering from her divorce from Jean-Bernard Fernández-Versini, she formalized her relationship with Liam Payne, and a year later, they went public.
Despite being ten years older than the former One Direction member, they appeared very much in love. After a year of dating, they became parents to a boy they named Bear Grey Payne.
On March 22, Cheryl Cole shared on Instagram, “Liam and I welcomed an incredibly beautiful and healthy baby.” The post included a photo of the singer holding the newborn.
Liam also reacted, stating, “It’s a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life.”
In July 2018, they announced their separation in a joint statement, expressing that it was a difficult decision for both.
“Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are separating. It has been a tough decision for us,” they said.
Both Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole emphasized their commitment to their son Bear’s well-being. In 2022, Liam remarked that Cheryl was “the best mother in the world.”
Where is Liam Payne’s son after his death?
Since their separation, Bear, Liam’s only child, has been under Cheryl Cole’s care. However, Liam repeatedly expressed that he was active in his son’s life, seeing him several times a week and ensuring that he dedicated his full attention during their time together.
A year later, Liam distanced himself from his son to focus on recovering from long-standing mental health and addiction issues. He thanked Cheryl and Bear for their support during that challenging period, saying, “More than anything, I want to thank him and his mother for giving me a little freedom to get well at that time.”
It is known that Cheryl Cole and her son Bear Grey live in England, with some reports suggesting they reside in the southeast, in Buckinghamshire.
