Barbados – Rihanna has strongly suggested that she is retiring from music to focus on her various other ventures
Speaking to those in attendance, the Barbadian said: “I would say music was the thing that got the attention. But God had other plans for me and I was able to create in ways … that were very sincere and genuine or organic and authentic to the things that I love.”
Rih continued: “So it doesn’t even feel like a job. But when you bring it home, I cannot express to you guys what this day means for me to be able to celebrate with the people that deserve it the most, the community that has always propelled me to the next place and given me the strength and the grace and you guys have always inspired me.”
The news would not necessarily be a shock given Rihanna last released an album in 2016 and her musical output since has been limited to soundtrack appearances on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.
In her time away from music and in addition to her various business ventures, Rihanna has been busy raising a family alongside boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
The couple have two children – two-year-old RZA and nine-month-old Riot Rose – but RiRi has been open about wanting her family to grow.
When Entertainment Tonight asked about her family life, Rihanna answered: The best, I live for it. It’s never a dull moment. I love when they climb off the chandeliers. I love when they literally are so scary that I’m forced to have fun. Me running around, me lifting them up, it’s all fun, it’s all exercise. But it works out for both of us, all of our kids.”
She added: “I wanna have a girl. I wouldn’t know what to do ’cause I only know about boys so far. It will be a new adventure.”
Rihanna has also been blending work and family life with her two kids featuring in the recent Savage X Fenty holiday advertising campaign.
