More than two decades after his breakthrough role in Fox’s The O.C., Adam Brody is finding a new legion of fans with Netflix‘s Nobody Wants This.
The 44-year-old actor plays a newly-single rabbi, who finds himself in an inexplicable relationship with an agnostic sex and dating podcaster (Kristen Bell).
Brody appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, where he opened up about his steamy kiss with Bell – his close friend in real life – which drove fans wild online.
Kimmel added that Bell – who also serves as an executive producer on the show – had ‘advocated’ for him to land the role of rabbi Noah Roklov.
When asked, though, about what it was like to kiss his close friend on camera, he revealed it was not quite as awkward since they were friends.

‘I think because we know each other it’s less strange, as strange as that might sound, I don’t know,’ Brody admitted.
‘I think there’s some trust there, there’s some familiarity,’ Brody added, but when Kimmel jokingly wondered if him and his wife Leighton Meester are hanging out with Bell and her husband Dax Shepard more or less since the kiss, he wasn’t sure.
‘That is a good question. That the litmus test. Not really. You know, they live on the east side, I live on the west, that’s fine,’ he said.
Brody added, ‘But Dax is always like bemoaning, “I wish you lived on the east side, we could hang out more.’
They also spoke about how the kiss was getting so much attention online, as Kimmel broke down some other famous kisses like Britney Spears and Madonna, The Lady and the Tramp and Al Pacino and John Cazale in The Godfather.
Brody was asked if Netflix has already approached him about another season or if they want to wait and ‘try to play it cool a little bit.’
‘I think they play it cool. Hushed tones, maybe. You know. We’ll see,’ Brody said, but when pressed if he was playing coy or if he really didn’t know, he said it was the latter.
‘I don’t officially know anything, truly. In my heart of hearts, I feel I know something,’ Brody admitted.
The 10-episode series stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, both 44, and comes from writer Erin Foster, daughter of David Foster and step-daughter of Katharine McPhee.

When asked if he thought he had to ‘behave himself’ to play a rabbi in the series, he admitted there was some studying
When asked if he thought he had to ‘behave himself’ to play a rabbi in the series, he admitted there was some studying.
‘I don’t know about behave myself, but I definitely had to bone up on my studies. I am jewish. I was bar mitzvahed, but late. I didn’t know my torah portion,’ he said.
He said, ‘And even today, literally, literally this morning, I was driving my daughter to school. And I was kind of feeling it. And I was like, “Today is rosh hashanah, which is the jewish new year, in case you’re interested.”‘
‘She’s 9. She’s like, “Dad, rosh hashanah started at sundown last night,”‘ he said with a laugh.
