Liam Payne’s dad once admitted he was worried about his son being in “lonely hotel rooms.”
The One Direction star, who died in October after falling from a hotel balcony, is believed to have had a fear of being confined in hotel rooms. On the day of his death, Liam was reportedly trying to escape from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In a resurfaced TikTok video, the singer opened up about his dad’s fears and admitted they related to his own unease over hotel rooms. “My dad said it from day one – lonely hotel rooms. Getting locked in that room is not fun,” Liam explained.
The clip has resurfaced as the transcript of a 911 call made shortly before Liam’s death has now been released. During the call, a staff member at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel said they feared the singer’s life might have been “in danger” after he appeared to be intoxicated in the hotel lobby.
“I don’t know whether his life may be in danger. He is in a room with a balcony, and, well, we’re a little afraid,” the employee said. CCTV footage from the day Liam died, which was obtained by TMZ, showed him causing a disturbance in the lobby before staff intervened.
Witnesses claimed he resisted, telling staff he did not want to stay in his room. Liam also allegedly warned hotel staff he would use the balcony to escape if confined. Despite the warning, staff reportedly used a master key to enter Liam’s room and place him inside.
After Liam was left alone in his room, he fell to his death. His body was found with a bag strapped over his shoulder. The bag had not been present when he was carried from the lobby to his room on the third floor.
