Gogglebox viewers expressed worry during the most recent episode of the Channel 4 programme when two familiar faces were conspicuously absent.
Sisters Amira and Amani Rota were nowhere to be seen during Friday’s (September 26) show, something that didn’t escape the attention of eagle-eyed fans.
Amira made her debut on the programme in 2017, with her sister Amani becoming part of the cast the subsequent year in 2018.
Originally, Amira appeared alongside her mate Iqra before Amani stepped in to fill the role.
Viewers at home quickly took to social media to highlight that the siblings were “absent” from the broadcast, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Posting on X, previously Twitter, one supporter wrote: “Missing Amira and Amani this week! #Gogglebox.”
Another user responded: “Yeah I was wondering where they were….literally like.” A third viewer questioned: “Where’s Amira and Amani this week? #Gogglebox.”

Amira is the junior of the two, being two years Amani’s junior.
In terms of careers, Amira is employed as a retail manager at Smyth’s Toys whilst Amani works in customer service.
The pair are recognised for residing at their family home in London and having three additional siblings who remain away from the public eye and have never appeared on Gogglebox.
Amira previously revealed how she was contacted by the show’s casting department on her inaugural day at university.
In conversation with Heat World, Amira confessed that convincing Amani to participate in the programme proved challenging when Iqra chose to depart.

She revealed at the time: “My personality is not very out there. I didn’t have the confidence to do it to begin with, but then I got out of my comfort zone and said yes.”
Amira laughed that having their father on the programme would be brilliant as he would be “hilarious”, but she confessed: “He wouldn’t be up for it, because he’s a shy guy, but some of the comments he makes, I’m like, ‘They would love you’.”
Fresh faces have been added to Gogglebox for the current series, featuring mates from Glasgow, a household from Surrey, and a pair from the Cotswolds. They’ll be accompanied by siblings from Edinburgh and a mother and daughter-in-law partnership from Yorkshire.
This follows after Scottish duo Joe Kyle and Roisin Kelly announced on Instagram that they had been “brutally axed” from the show.
