Three people, including boys aged 14 and 16, have been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The victim, Gino Robb, suffered stab wounds during an attack on Shields Road in the Byker area on the evening of June 16. Despite being rushed to hospital, he later died from his injuries, prompting a major murder investigation by Northumbria Police.
Gino Robb Died After Being Stabbed in Byker
Emergency services were called to Shields Road on Tuesday evening after reports of a stabbing. Gino Robb, 25, was taken to hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead later that night.
His death sparked an extensive investigation, with officers carrying out enquiries across several parts of Newcastle as they worked to establish exactly what happened.
Detectives said their thoughts remain with Gino’s family and loved ones and that specialist support is being provided during this difficult time.
Multiple Arrests Made During Murder Investigation
Following the attack, police arrested several people. Two men aged 22 and 24, along with a 16-year-old boy, were initially detained on suspicion of murder before later being released on bail pending further enquiries.
Additional arrests followed in the Walker area, where two men aged 40 and 33 and another 16-year-old boy were detained on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old was subsequently released on police bail.
Investigators later arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.
Adult Suspect and Two Teenagers Charged
Police have since charged Jed Grieve, 33, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, with murder. Two boys aged 14 and 16 have also been charged but cannot be identified due to legal restrictions.
All three defendants have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 22.
Detective Chief Inspector Atherton of Northumbria Police’s Major Investigation Team said the investigation remains ongoing and officers are continuing to gather evidence.
Police Appeal for Information About Electric Motorbike
As part of the investigation, detectives are seeking information about two people riding an electric motorbike that was seen entering Shields Road from Grace Street shortly before the attack.
Police believe the bike later returned along Shields Road and headed back towards Grace Street. Officers are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, or mobile phone recordings from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
Investigators thanked members of the public who have already assisted and said any additional information could help provide answers to Gino Robb’s family.
