Single mother stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend while working at Skyline Chili, authorities say
NORWOOD, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) – An Ohio woman was stabbed to death this week at work and her ex-boyfriend has been charged in connection with her death.
According to Hamilton County authorities, Alyssa Hill, 27, was working at a Skyline Chili restaurant on Tuesday when she was killed in a stabbing at the hands of her ex, identified as 37-year-old Rick Wright.
Kayla Elliott, a close friend of Hill’s, said she was a single mother who had worked at Skyline Chili as a server for years.
“We are devastated that she was taken from this world while she was simply working to provide for her children. The loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved her,” Elliott said.

Loved ones have set up a GoFundMe to help Hill’s children and her funeral expenses.
“She had such a kind heart and always seemed to know exactly what to say when someone needed encouragement. She was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone else,” Elliott said. “Her children and family meant everything to her, and the love she had for them was obvious in everything she did.”
On Wednesday, prosecutors described Wright as an “extraordinary danger to the community” due to his previous criminal history and now alleged murder.
In 2025, Wright was convicted of misdemeanor assault against a police officer.
Hamilton County Judge Samantha Silverstein sentenced him to 60 days in jail and ordered him to receive court-ordered mental health treatment once his probation began.
Wright failed to report to his probation officer, failed to provide his address, and failed to attend treatment in May, a criminal complaint stated.
The Hamilton County Municipal Probation Department issued a warrant for his arrest on May 28, 2025, and he was taken into custody.
However, Wright again failed to report to his probation officer and did not comply with treatment.
An active warrant for Wright’s arrest was issued on Dec. 17, 2025, but law enforcement did not capture him until Tuesday, after the Skyline Chili stabbing.
Additionally, authorities say Wright was convicted of felony robbery in 2012 and sentenced to four years in prison.
Court records show the 37-year-old has been convicted of possessing and trafficking drugs in the past.
A judge agreed this week with prosecutors and denied Wright’s bond during his Wednesday court appearance. A detention hearing is scheduled for Friday.
