A jewellery expert valued the engagement ring exclusively for GB News
Princess Anne’s son proposed to his NHS nurse girlfriend, Harriet Sperling, with a $20,000 engagement ring, a jewellery expert has claimed.
Peter Phillips, 47, began dating Sperling last year, and on Friday, it was confirmed that the couple are engaged to be married.
Pictures were released of the future Mr and Mrs Phillips showing Sperling wearing a dazzling diamond ring.
Tobias Kormind, the co-founder and managing director of 77 Diamonds, Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller, spoke exclusively to GB News about the jewel.

He said: “The ring seems to be a classic trilogy design, set most likely with an oval or round diamond in the centre and flanked by trapeze-cut or triangular stones on either side.”
In terms of the ring’s price, Kormind explained: “For a precise valuation, I would require a clearer image and knowledge of its provenance.
“Meanwhile, a similar design with natural diamonds of equivalent quality and size at 77 Diamonds would usually be priced from around £10,000.
“The final price would reflect personal preferences of cut, carat, and craftsmanship.”

When the royal engagement was confirmed, Gerard Franklin issued the following statement: “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement.
“Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement.
“No date has been officially set for the wedding.”

Before meeting Sperling, Phillips was married to Autumn Kelly, and the former couple share two daughters, Savannah and Isla.
After marrying in 2008, Peter and Autumn confirmed their separation in February 2020, with their divorce settled in June 2021.
Autumn remained living in Gloucestershire, so that she and Peter could co-parent their daughters.
Meanwhile, Sperling is a mother of one to her daughter, Georgia.
