Jesy Nelson has melted hearts after sharing a previously unseen photo of her baby twins holding hands as they watched TV from their hospital bed.

The proud mum-of-two, 34, posted the emotional snap to Instagram as she continues to update fans on her daughters’ battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA), the most severe form of the rare muscle-wasting condition.

The former Little Mix star shared the touching image of Ocean Jade and Story Monroe lying side by side in hospital, wrapped together under a blanket. Both girls had feeding tubes in place as they received treatment — but what truly moved fans was the tender detail: the twins sweetly holding hands.

Ocean and Story were born prematurely at 31 weeks in May last year. Shortly after their birth, they were diagnosed with SMA Type 1, a life-limiting genetic condition that affects muscle strength and movement. Children with this form of the disease may never be able to walk without early intervention.

Jesy first revealed the devastating news in an emotional video, admitting it felt “like someone had died” when she was told about her daughters’ diagnosis.

The singer shares her twins with former fiancé Zion Foster. Together, they secured a one-off gene therapy infusion treatment designed to prevent further muscle damage — though it cannot reverse any deterioration that had already occurred.

Jesy has previously spoken about how her mother, Janice, was the first to notice something was wrong, spotting reduced movement in the babies’ legs despite multiple assessments by health visitors and doctors.

Now, the pop star is campaigning for change. She is urging authorities to include SMA screening in standard newborn heel prick tests to allow for earlier diagnosis and treatment.

The emotional update comes as Jesy prepares to release season two of her docu-series, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, on Amazon Prime Video. The new series will focus heavily on her daughters’ health battle and the impact it has had on her life as a mother.
