Princess Charlotte Wears Historic Diamond Horseshoe Brooch to Trooping the Colour 2025

The brooch has been in the royal family for generations.

As Princess Charlotte rode next to her mom, Kate Middleton, in this year’s Trooping the Colour parade, a small, sparkling brooch was visible on her baby blue dress.

The 10-year-old princess appeared to be wearing a diamond horseshoe brooch—one she first wore to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral that has been in the royal family for generations.

The diamond horseshoe brooch was given to the young princess by Queen Elizabeth; it was originally owned by the Queen Mother, who was first pictured wearing the piece of jewelry nearly a century ago, in 1929:

At today’s Trooping the Colour, Princess Charlotte’s outfit mirrored her mother’s; both wore aqua blue dresses with sparkling pins (Kate’s brooch is the Irish Guards regimental brooch). Charlotte did not wear earrings or a hat, however.

Trooping the Colour marks Princess Charlotte’s second appearance of the year. She previously joined her parents and siblings at a military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day in May. For that event, she did not wear any jewelry.

Last year, the young princess made quite the impression on Jason and Travis Kelce when she and Prince George met Taylor Swift ahead of the Eras Tour in London.

“I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too,” Jason said during an episode of their New Heights podcast. “[Charlotte] was so f*cking adorable. I cannot express how—maybe because I have three girls now, [but] she had a fire to her! She was asking questions. That was the most electric part.” Travis agreed with his brother, saying Princess Charlotte “was a superstar!”
