It’s heartbreaking that we’ve lost Patricia Routledge, the incredible woman behind Hyacinth Bucket. Now, only Judy Cornwell (who played Daisy) and David Griffin (Emmet Hawksworth) remain from the more central cast.
Judy Cornwell has had a long and varied career. After Keeping Up Appearances, she appeared in EastEnders as Queenie Trott, and showed up on Midsomer Murders, Birds of a Feather, Doctor Who, and more. She’s also written novels and even taken on roles like Miss Marple on stage.
David Griffin, who played the long-suffering neighbour Emmet, is best known for Hi-de-Hi! as well and has had a strong career in TV and touring theatre. After Keeping Up Appearances ended in 1995, he toured with shows like The Good Sex Guide and took part in pantomimes, keeping his presence alive on stage.
They carry forward the legacy of one of the greatest sitcoms ever made, even as we say goodbye to some of the legends.
