‘I am so broken’: Jodie Marsh breaks down in tears and says she’s lost ‘everything valuable’ after devastating fire at her farm killed two animals she hand-reared from birth
Jodie Marsh has broken down in tears on social media after revealing she has lost “everything valuable” following a devastating house fire at her Essex farm.
The model has been left ‘so broken’ after two of her beloved animals, which had been hand reared from birth, were tragically killed in the blaze
The former glamour model, who famously turned her back on fame to run Fripps Farm, said she has been left “so broken” after two of her beloved animals – which she had hand-reared from birth – were tragically killed in the blaze.
In an emotional video posted online, Jodie finally spoke about the incident that destroyed the upstairs of her home and claimed the lives of her two marmosets – small monkeys native to South America.
Fighting back tears, she explained that the fire started accidentally when an air purifier caught alight.
Jodie, who turned her back on fame to run Fripps Farm in Essex, broke her silence on the fire which sadly killed two marmosets – small monkeys more commonly found in South America
“It started from a s***y air purifier I bought from Amazon,” she said. “I’d only had it for six months and I did everything right, changing the filters and everything – and it caught fire.
“It set light to my bedroom and destroyed the whole of the upstairs of my house. It’s destroyed.”
In a teary video, she explained that the accidental insident started from an air purifier setting alight and that the upstairs of her home is ‘destroyed’
Jodie then revealed she plans to leave the area altogether once repairs are complete.
“I’ll be moving as soon as everything is fixed because nobody wants to buy a house like this, and I’ll be going far, far, far away from Uttlesford,” she said.
“I don’t care about my house being destroyed. I’ve lost everything that’s of value to me. I lost two baby marmosets.
“It’s broken me beyond belief. I’ve given up my whole life for these animals and those babies meant everything to me. I’m so broken.”
Fripps Farm is home to hundreds of animals, most of which Jodie says she has rescued. The five-acre sanctuary houses emus, llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, cows, pigs and deer, as well as peacocks, chickens, geese and ducks roaming the grounds.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
A spokesperson confirmed: “Firefighters were called at 4.56pm to a fire in Lindsell, Dunmow. On arrival, the property was full of smoke and crews discovered a fire in the upstairs bedroom.
“Crews worked hard to extinguish the fire and stop it from spreading. The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental, started by an electrical item.”
Fripps Farm, located just north of Dunmow in the North Essex countryside, has not been without controversy. Jodie has previously faced neighbour disputes and court battles, most recently winning an emotional legal fight in June to keep lemurs at the sanctuary after a council refused her wild animal licence.
At the time, concerns were raised about her taking a meerkat to a pub, while clips of screeching zoo lemurs were even played in court. However, Judge Christopher Williams dismissed claims about excessive noise, leaving Jodie in tears of joy.
Now, however, she is facing her darkest moment yet – mourning the heartbreaking loss of two animals she says meant everything to her.
