Kim Woodburn’s husband Peter has posted a moving selection of photographs of the reality TV star on Instagram, including pictures of when she was young.
On Tuesday (17 June), it was revealed that Celebrity Big Brother star and beloved gay icon Kim Woodburn had died aged 83 after a “short illness”.
She passed away on on Monday (16 June) according to her representatives.
“It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness,” they told The Sun in a statement.
“Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person.
“Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate.
“We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career.
“We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve.”
Following news of her death, Kim Woodburn’s Instagram account, where the star regularly shared updates and videos with her many fans, was renamed “Peter Woodburn” and a video slideshow tribute was shared with the caption: “My wonderful, beautiful, Kim passed away last night. God bless, my love, xx”
The first image shows Kim Woodburn as a very young girl, aged just four, in 1946. The second is a glamorous shot of the star in 1962, the third shows her in the Lancashire town of Formby in 1978, followed by several other photographs that are more recent.
The Instagram post has only been online for 30 minutes at the time of writing, but has already been flooded with heart-rending and emotional tribute comments.
Talent agent Robert Wilson said: “I looked after her on Big brother’s big mouth show back in the day! She was an absolute scream!!!! Will be missed.”
Another person added: “RIP Kim. You rocked the reality TV world and made us laugh so much throughout the years. Thank you for the laughs. ♥️”
The Instagram post directly before the tribute slideshow of a young Kim Woodburn is a simple image of a sign that says, hauntingly, “We regret to tell you that Kim is unable to record any further videos for the foreseeable future due to a health problem.
“Kim sends her love to you all.”
