Michael Strahan offered some eye-opening remarks after Bill Belichick’s disappointing blowout loss as the new head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Belichick returned to coaching at the college level after previously enjoying a lengthy and successful stint as the New England Patriots’ head coach.
During that time, he won six Super Bowl rings, with many continuing to point to his star quarterback, Tom Brady, as the main reason.
The team was on the verge of winning more than six championships, but lost in the big game to Michael Strahan’s New York Giants twice during Belichick’s time.
Strahan has since retired as a player and moved on to television roles as an anchor and co-host on ABC’s Good Morning America and analyst for Fox NFL Sunday.

On Monday evening, all eyes were on Belichick as his North Carolina Tar Heels played a home game against the TCU Horned Frogs.
Sports legends, including Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor, and Randy Moss, attended the game, cheering exuberantly after UNC took a 7-0 lead with an opening drive touchdown.
However, the offense regressed after that, as TCU ultimately clobbered the Tar Heels, 48-14.
Good Morning America’s Sam Champion presented the story as part of GMA’s Tuesday episode. After Champion finished speaking about Belichick’s loss, Strahan’s co-star, Lara Spencer, asked the former NFL star for his thoughts, and he got fired up.
“[He’s] just getting started. Kids have to learn the system. You gotta learn his style. He has to learn their style. He’ll be fine. He didn’t just light it up in the NFL, too,” an animated Strahan told his co-stars at the desk.
“Takes a while. You gotta get momentum,” he added.
While Belichick is synonymous with the Patriots, his first job as head coach in the NFL came in 1991 with the Cleveland Browns. He went 6-10 in his first season, followed by two 7-9 campaigns.
In 1994, the team went 11-5 and lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional Game. The Browns fired Belichick after a 5-11 record in 1995.
His first season in New England was also disappointing, with a 5-11 record and no postseason appearance. However, things climbed from there, en route to a historic franchise that won the Lombardi Trophy six times under Belichick’s coaching.
He and the Tar Heels have a chance to bounce back from the disappointing season-opening loss when they play the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday.
