King Charles Offers Rare Health Update Amid Ongoing Cancer Battle: It’s ‘Just One of Those Things’

The monarch tends to remain tight-lipped about his current health.

LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 30: King Charles III departs after visiting the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre on April 30, 2024 in London, England. This visit raises awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and will highlight some of the innovative research, supported by Cancer Research UK, which is taking place at the hospital. Though King Charles and his fellow Royals typically keep mum about his health ever since revealing he’d been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer, the monarch reportedly offered a brief update to one of his subjects while interacting with the public this week.

According to a new report from Hello!, Charles entertained an inquiry about his battle during a walkabout in Newmarket, Suffolk, following a visit to the Jockey Club Rooms in the Suffolk town centre.

Lee Harman, a 54-year-old from Bury St Edmunds, told the PA news agency, per Hello!, that he took the opportunity to ask after the king, with Charles telling Harmon that “he was feeling a lot better now and that it was ‘just one of those things’.”

Harmon sympathized with King Charles, sharing his own history with the disease. “He asked me how I was and I said ‘I’m all good’, I got the all clear from cancer last year,” he added.

Though he was diagnosed in early 2024, King Charles has never made public the type of cancer he is treating, and rarely gives statements about his ongoing battle with the disease, though he has been known to open up with his subjects—especially those going through the same thing.
