Jim Carrey, known for his animated performances and expressive face, has sparked massive speculation following his recent public appearance. At 64, Carrey, once the face of Hollywood comedy, has kept a low profile in recent years, but his reappearance at the Cesar Awards in Paris left fans confused and conspiracies running wild.

His swollen face, noticeably different from his usual features, led to rumors that the actor was a “clone,” with some even speculating his eye color had changed and that he was signing autographs with his right hand despite being left-handed. These wild theories sent social media into a frenzy.

However, sources close to Carrey revealed that the actor isn’t upset by the ridicule regarding his appearance but feels sadness over the absurdity of it all. “Jim is sad,” a source shared. “Not because people are making fun of him, but because people are stupid.” He finds it frustrating that the world is speculating about his appearance rather than focusing on what truly matters.

At the Cesar Awards, Carrey received an honorary award for his decades-long career. But instead of celebrating the moment, the focus shifted to his appearance, with theories swirling that it wasn’t actually the real Carrey who attended, but a clone. Even drag artist Alexis Stone, known for transforming into celebrities, added fuel to the fire by claiming she had used makeup and prosthetics to become Carrey.

Despite these outlandish rumors, a representative confirmed that it was indeed Carrey who attended the prestigious ceremony, calling the conspiracy theories a “non-issue.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, who has never treated Carrey, speculated that the actor had undergone Botox treatments, which may explain his altered look. According to Spiegel, Carrey’s eyebrows seemed “oddly arched” and his cheeks appeared “unnaturally pulled,” which he attributed to possibly a poorly done facelift.

Carrey, who has been living a more isolated life in recent years, was touched by the recognition from the Cesar Academy. “It was a historic moment,” said Gregory Caulier, the Academy’s general delegate. “Jim was extremely moved by the invitation.” Carrey delivered his speech in French, showing how much effort he put into preparing for the occasion.

Although Carrey has hinted at retirement in recent years, he made his return to the big screen with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in 2024, playing the villain Dr. Robotnik. He humorously admitted that he returned to the role due to financial reasons, joking, “I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly.”

Despite the controversies surrounding his appearance, Carrey seems to be embracing a quieter life in Maui, away from the spotlight. “I spend a lot of time by myself, but I like being by myself,” he once said, describing his life as “isolated” but fulfilling.
