Just when you think Married At First Sight can’t get any messier, this season delivers another behind-the-scenes twist that won’t make it to air.
According to multiple cast sources, what viewers are seeing between Gia Fleur and Scott McCristal is only half the story.
Because their most explosive blow-up to date didn’t happen on cameras – insiders say it erupted after filming the final commitment ceremony, set to air on Sunday.
By that stage, tensions were already at breaking point.
‘There was a massive shift overnight after the ceremony,’ one bride tells me.
‘They were speaking privately, things were calm, they were actually trying to work through it… then the cameras come on and everything changes.’

According to multiple cast sources, what viewers are seeing between Gia and Scott is only half the story
According to insiders, the turning point came after an emotional moment behind closed doors – where Scott was said to have broken down, prompting intervention from senior producers.
‘He was crying in his room and the execs went in,’ the source claims.
‘After that, everything changed. He came out with this whole new energy – like he had something to prove.’
And it didn’t go unnoticed by the rest of the cast.
‘It felt like he suddenly had a narrative,’ another insider adds. ‘Like he needed to make her look bad so he could justify ending it later.’
But a groom close to the situation claims the truth is far more complicated.
According to the insider, the relationship had already imploded in the early hours of the morning – long before cameras captured the fallout.
‘He said she ended things at around 3am after a huge argument,’ the source reveals.

‘He went and slept on the couch thinking it was completely over.’
But just hours later, things appeared to take another turn.
‘She woke him up again around 4.30am asking him to come back to bed, and then in the morning brought him a coffee and wanted to talk,’ the insider continues.
‘From his perspective, it felt like mixed signals – like one minute it’s over, the next it’s not.’
And when filming resumed the next day, that’s when everything exploded on camera.
‘He basically repeated what she had said the night before,’ the source says.
‘But she saw it as him throwing her under the bus.’
According to the groom, that moment became a turning point.

‘He said it gave him clarity,’ the insider adds.
‘That he couldn’t move forward because he felt like she was only focused on her own feelings.’
Which brings us to the real game plan bubbling behind the scenes.
Several cast members became convinced Scott was playing the long game – staying in the experiment just long enough to make it to Final Vows, where he could deliver a dramatic rejection.
But insiders claim there may have been outside influence at play following the commitment ceremony fallout.
‘There was definitely talk that he was being encouraged to speak up more and not hold back,’ one source says.
‘Once that happened, everything escalated very quickly.’
And the off-camera drama didn’t stop there.

In another explosive twist, multiple cast members claim Gia’s actions later that same day only added fuel to the fire.
‘She told him she was going to clear her head after everything that happened… but then ended up at the pub with Bec and Danny,’ one insider alleges.
‘That didn’t go down well at all.’
The situation allegedly spiralled even further during that catch-up.
‘There was a lot of talk about the relationship and what had gone wrong,’ the source says.
‘At one point it felt like people were trying to piece together whether there was anything else going on behind the scenes.’
Those claims are echoed by another cast member, who says the optics raised eyebrows across the group.
‘If you’re trying to fix things after a commitment ceremony like that, going straight to the pub with the most chaotic people in the experiment isn’t exactly the best move,’ they say.
