Just one year after announcing their divorce, whispers are growing louder that Eamonn Holmes may be trying to win back his ex-wife Ruth Langsford — and it’s left fans stunned.

According to reports, the GB News presenter’s relationship with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 42, has hit a “rocky patch,” and now insiders claim he’s been telling close friends that he wants to “be a family again” with Ruth — especially as Christmas approaches.
A source told Closer:
“Eamonn has shocked pals after saying he wants to rebuild trust and be friends again. He knows he wasn’t always the dream husband, but he misses the family life they shared.”
The insider added that despite his efforts, Ruth has moved on emotionally.
“Ruth always knew this day would come — that Eamonn would eventually come crawling back. But she’s no longer invested in him or their marriage — her focus is on their son, Jack.”
The former TV golden couple, both now 65, were together for 27 years and married for 14 before announcing their separation in May 2024. At the time, a spokesperson confirmed that their marriage was over and that they were “in the process of divorcing.”
Their split marked the end of one of British TV’s most beloved partnerships. The pair began dating in 1996, welcomed their son Jack in 2002, and tied the knot in 2010. Together, they fronted ITV’s This Morning from 2006 to 2022, becoming household names for their warmth and witty on-screen chemistry.
Eamonn also has three older children from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes, whom he wed in 1985.
Now, insiders suggest that while the exes remain on “civil, common ground,” there’s still emotional tension beneath the surface.
“He wants to change the dynamic — they’re amicable, but he wants more. He wants Ruth back in his life. After all, they’ll always be family,” the source added.
But for Ruth, that door may be closed for good. Friends say she’s focused on rebuilding her own life and adjusting to the quiet of her “empty home” — something she’s previously admitted has been emotionally difficult.
Meanwhile, Eamonn has had a tough year himself, facing health struggles and taking breaks from his TV duties, prompting an outpouring of support from fans.
