he Prince of Wales showed a rare moment of affection towards his step-mother, Queen Camilla, during a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle on the first day of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s state visit.

William, 43, arrived at the royal residence with his wife, Kate Middleton, 44, and greeted his step-mother, Camilla, 78, with a kiss on the cheek.

The senior royal and father-of-three approached the King and Queen, who were stationed underneath a white tent that had been erected over a set of red carpeted stairs with gold trimmings, and greeted them ahead of the engagement.

Leaning down, the eldest son of King Charles hugged Camilla, who was dressed in a light blush pink ensemble for the occasion.

William and Kate then made their way to the side of the tent, where they stood to attention while the King and Queen joined the Nigerian head of state, President Bola Tinubu, and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, in the Quadrangle on the platform.

The prince looked dapper in a black blazer and baby blue waistcoat, which he wore over the top of a crisp white shirt and a navy tie. He completed his ensemble with a pair of grey suit trousers.

Camilla stunned in her matching blush pink outfit, which featured a long tailored coat with satin lapels, a dress and neck scarf in a tulle material. The star of the show was a round fascinator that had an extravagant feather-like detailing attached.

She carried her belongings in a small cream padded Dior bag and walked around the castle in a pair of modest heels. Camilla completed her look with a deep pink lipstick.

What did Kate wear for the Nigerian state visit?

Standing next to her husband, the Princess of Wales matched his grey trousers with a stoney-coloured outfit of her own.

During the first day of the state visit, she had on a very tailored Tolu Coker coat that featured white lapels and double-breasted white buttons. The back of the coat had interesting corset-inspired detailing that saw it cinched with a grey ribbon.

She added a white and grey Jane Taylor London hat that perfectly matched the coat and used a small Mulberry Amberley crossbody bag in black croc to carry her things.

Kate wore a pair of Hugo Boss stiletto heels in charcoal grey for the occasion and accessorised with some pearl and diamond drop earrings.
