Prince Harry ‘sad and tired’ during public appearance with Meghan Markle in New York

The Sussexes were in the Big Apple for an important occasion

Prince Harry apparently looked “sad, anxious and tired” as he made a public appearance with Meghan Markle in New York, according to an audience member.

Last Thursday (October 9), the couple travelled to the Big Apple to receive the Humanitarians of the Year Award at non-profit organisation Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala. The prize was in recognition of their global mental health advocacy.

The following day, Harry and Meghan attended the organisation’s World Mental Health Festival. Their Archewell Foundation charity sponsored three panels at the event.

According to the Daily Mail, an audience member at the festival has reportedly shared their thoughts on the Duke of Sussex at the event.

“You got the impression his life had taken a wrong turn,” the anonymous attendee reportedly said of the Duke of Sussex. “Harry just looked sad, anxious and tired. He obviously hates speaking in front of a crowd.”

Archewell’s panels are said to have focused on two of Harry and Meghan’s passion projects: the mental health crisis amongst young people and online safety.

In particular, the couple’s humanitarian award recognised their ongoing efforts to create a safer online environment for young people.

Two years ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex set up the Parents’ Network with their Archewell Foundation charity, offering support for parents whose children have experienced harm from social media. They unveiled the initiative at the 2023 edition of the Project Healthy Minds’ festival.

Earlier this year, the couple also unveiled a memorial in New York City, dedicated to children whose families believe harmful online material contributed to their deaths.

Meghan Markle shares New York highlights

Following the festival, Harry and Meghan reportedly left together to have lunch with tennis legend Serena Williams at Soho House.

Over the weekend, they apparently dined out yet again with another big star, none another than singer, Ed Sheeran.

Earlier this week, Meghan gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their New York trip on social media. A video, shared via the Duchess of Sussex’s official Instagram, showed a montage of candid moments. One particular clip of Harry chilling in grey sweatpants, had social media users swooning.

Fans loved seeing the couple’s chemistry as one person gushed: “He’s sooooo smitten with her, it’s cute.”

Another added: “I LOVE the T-shirt and sweatpants! That’s a man in love.”
