Freddy Brazier has revealed the reasons behind his fractured relationship with his father,  TV presenter Jeff Brazier, in an exclusive interview that leaves little unsaid.

Jeff, 46, is father to 20-year-old Freddy and 22-year-old EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, both of whom he shared with the late reality star Jade Goody.

In recent months, the family has made headlines after reports that Jeff was taking legal action to prevent Freddy from seeing his grandmother, Jackiey Budden.

Freddy, who lost his mother to cervical cancer in 2009 when he was just four, said the rift with his father has deepened to the point where he doesn’t want to see him — not even on Father’s Day.

“It feels to me like he only cares about his own image,” Freddy told the Daily Mail. “He doesn’t think about anything that affects anyone else, not even his own sons. I don’t want to see him… I feel like I’m being hung out. I don’t deserve it.”

Freddy also claimed that his relationship with older brother Bobby is strained: “We’re all barely speaking.” This is a sharp contrast to the public image from Strictly Come Dancing 2023, where Freddy and Jeff were seen cheering Bobby on together.

Staying Close to Jackiey

The one family connection Freddy says remains strong is with his grandmother, Jackiey Budden.

“We have proper fun together,” he said, denying Jeff’s alleged belief that his drug use came from spending time with her. Freddy admitted to starting smoking cannabis at 12 with friends but says he now finds “peace” in it.

“Supposedly, he’s taking legal action to stop me from seeing my nana, but nothing will stop me. She’s my family. My mum would be upset if she saw him doing that.”

Freddy says Jeff still treats him like a teenager: “I’m 20 years old. He doesn’t let me do anything for myself.” If the injunction goes ahead, Freddy vows to move abroad rather than give up seeing Jackiey.

Jackiey, for her part, has made her opinion of Jeff clear, previously calling him the C-word in a foul-mouthed rant.

Father and son appeared together last year on Celebrity Race Across the World, travelling through southern Chile in an effort to bond. While there were moments of connection, tensions were also visible, with Jeff at one point “storming off” during filming.

Freddy now says he didn’t even want to do the show: “We filmed it before the big fallout — only because he really wanted to. It’s always about image. It’s all about money. That’s why Bobby moved out too.”

Freddy claims his brother is now living in London “doing his own thing,” and that he and Bobby barely speak: “I sent him a message for his birthday, but that’s it.”

A Promise to Change

Freddy’s tell-all comes a day after an Instagram Story in which he admitted an addiction to smoking since age 12, announced he was going into rehab, and promised to “cut down” in order to rebuild family relationships.

“I want to be clean so I can live happily and have healthy relationships… I haven’t been able to feel love properly because I’ve never loved myself, but it starts now.”

He also expressed hopes to play football, take up boxing, and improve ties with both his grandmother and father.

The last time Freddy and Jeff were seen together was June 4 in Essex, where they appeared downcast during a tense meeting at a barbershop.
